Dear ASCB members, I have recently heard about your annual congress from 2023 being cited by LVMH (Guerlain brand) group in order to support a new technology in cosmetics which allegedly allows for targetting "cellular light at the scale of quantum physics". Their new product, a topical cream, set at a very high selling price, is supposed to rejuvenate the skin. I did not attend the annual congress of 2023 but this video is the only closely related content I found which may be related to what LVMH used to promote its new product. Is there any information about this to be published, a pre-print, anything waiting to be accepted or peer-reviewed in a high impact factor scientific journal ? According to Guerlain, biophysics researchers at Palacky University in Czech Republic have lead some research about this topic, involving measurements of ultra-weak photons in human fibroblasts. No real google scholar results are provided nor any citation have been given on Guerlain website. I must say I'm not familiar with quantum biology and quite ignorant regarding quantum physics. However I have Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree in biology, cell biology and cell imaging for which the latter is my job. I am well acquainted with topics around pathologies, therapies and drug efficiency assessment on living organisms, tissues, or cells especially involving imaging techniques. Limitations in current imaging techniques (time, spatial or frequency resolution) dictate how far we can interprete our data, and even if new technologies emerge, for instance with correlative imaging, these still remain as very challenging to use and if they work, give very complex data that require an array of different well-trained experts to confirm hypotheses. Let alone this highly probable bad-marketing buzz ongoing from LVMH brand, I'd be curious to know how certain industrials manage to keep having links and partnership with well-known institutions such as yours while publicly advertising for apparently deceptive practices... maybe could you provide some opinion or very general feelings about this ? (not needing to cite any name?) If you are encline to read and maybe react to this comment, I would, as a scientist specialized in cell imaging, rather be excited to hear about future development of imaging techniques. I have been interested about correlative imaging techniques for years and dreaming that one day things such as electron imaging or high spatial resolution microscopes could study living samples with confidence and without being too difficult with technical optimization. Also, AI is getting a very exponential growth and interest in the community so I am curious how all these will be made complementary for us to push science much further. I will take time to fully hear and study about this podcast in my free time. Sincerely, a French biologist.

Hallelujah God is real! This whole process did NOT develop by chance. It would be like saying my house made itself by chance, when my house itself is the proof of there being a builder of my house (and how much more complex of a process is our body’s t-cells killing cancer cells?) And how much more complex is the creation of the universe? The complex and fine tuned universe we live in, is the proof of a Creator of the universe!!!

What an absolute clown. If God is real why would he allow children to get any kind of horrible disease where they die painfully and slowly such as Cancer and so many other horrible things? The mere occurrence of horrible conditions on innocents such as children is the proof God either doesn't exist or willingly chooses not to help humanity. Then what is a God? A wrathful king looking down at us from his Holy Throne? Looking upon our misery and yet expecting us to praise HIM? Best we realize he doesn't exist now and live protecting each other lest we hang onto hope that we're not unwanted children of an unkind and unsympathetic wannabe "God". You want humanity's praise, you earn it.

God is dead, you are delusional, and will get nothing but ire from people that are smart enough to understand things like this and keep you healthy. If anything, worship the people that aren't so lazy that they accept things at face value as something god did. The difference is that people that investigate the universe (instead of assuming that some dude above the clouds that watches you poop and gives children cancer and makes lots of people suffer despite their level of ""purity"" or arbitrary ""sin"") will tell you when they don't know something, and devote time and resources to trying to come up with an answer that stands up to extreme scrutiny. Folks like you don't even care to open your eyes, use your brain, and pursue truth. Your numbers are dwindling as time advances, even after adjusting for the increasing rate of population. Soon people will stop believing things that less learned, or millennia old people continue to coerce and indoctrinate, brainwash and threaten with INFINITE ETERNAL BURNING IN FIRE AND SUFFERING if they don't believe it, and our species of animal that we are will be able to step forward again-- just as we have done over and over, over millions of years, during the evolution of humankind, in our absolutely beautiful, wondrous, yet knowable, Big-bang-inception cosmos. Nice laughing emoji. Just know that we're all laughing at you and your ilk, and typically patronizing, humoring, and catering to you-- but with some actual tact-- typically without the naivety and with more focus on actual, evidential things, emperically building up knowledge instead of a confirmation bias, a grudge, or believing everything that makes them feel good or that is told to them. ...I just decided to bite back because you were officially, objectively acting as arrogant and as foolish as someone who denies the moon landings, or a globe Earth. Despite it being a waste of time for me, sure... because you don't give 2 damns about the truth, as you run around with your hands over your ears kicking rocks at the people who would actually care to build a better, and more knowledgeable future. People who see for themselves instead of through the lens of murderous, money hungry and corrupt people masquerading as some pious, holy warriors that just aim to increase numbers like bacteria or something. _Most importantly, people that will actually change their friggin mind in the light of New or better evidence_ . Oh I'd be thrilled if folks could provide irrefutable evidence--- no, even just better evidence of a god... Were it scrutinized, testable, and held up... I and any other real scientist mindset individual would accept it and grow. But in the end, isn't that just exactly the difference between you and me..? Since you are the same stagnant sack of crap that everyone preceding you have been for your entire, unfortunate existence, going back thousands of years-- holding back, raping, silencing, or killing others in the name of some asshole god that was born out of fear for not knowing, in the name of comfort. Not of some bimbo that lied to her husband about cheating on him. What a stupid fable that is. We can harness the power in the cores of stars, the engine that drives the very cosmos your mind is too lazy and ignorant to appreciate for what it is. Don't be a dick, there's more evidence for the big bang theory than any Christian hogwash you use as a blindfold. Millions of people would love to overturn the big bang model. They'd be immortalized forever. The problem is, that would be akin to disproving that water is wet. Good luck with that one. As a superfluous coup de tat, let's step back and reconsider the pathetic perspective you would do really belch to random people you will never reach, influence, or gain any favor by -- once more. Something along the lines of, _ "Big bang couldn't produce this" _ ...or whatever drivel you would have us all stop and resign to believe out of *PURE FAITH* : Your argument is illogical and unsound all the way through, and certainly isn't going to convince anyone that isn't a like minded idiot. And here's why your words are so dumb I initially hesitated to waste the half hour I have to respond you you. It is as follows (and as educated people already spotted as easily as you would catch a pillow that was lobbed in your direction, no doubt): The universe could be *anything* at all. It's all basically arbitrary; the motion in which evening was set from the first moments of the nascent and incidental quantum phonons escaping the beginning of what we would later call time, and forming the basis for every structure in the universe- from galaxies to Apple trees- the laws that comprise the foundation of things like chemistry and physics that produce everything in your life-- It could have been ANYTHING. And _were_ it that way instead of... well, this, you'd be saying the SAME dumb shit in THAT universe, too. And every other universe, where such absurdity was allowed to propagate, including the non existent alternatives where 'empty space is green' and the ones where 'gravity repels' and the ones where 'we're made of antimatter and have tentacles instead of hair'. Whatever and EVERYTHING you (err, well, even your atrophied imagination... if you remember how to use that roped off section of your brain) can imagine... it all could have been. And you would STILL declare the same ancient, scared, tripe ad nauseum, making countless unimaginable, unmanifested other species and consciousness that never got to come into being want to do whatever the equivalent of vomiting is to them. Alas, here we are! Weird watery flesh bags with nervous systems and two spherical electromagnetic sensors, conglomerates of various bacterias, viruses, protozoans, animal cells, mucous, piss and blood, built from tightly wound streamers of atoms making up the DNA that evolved via survival of the fittest and most effective, and fighting our own kind while living on this apple peel sized section of our planet, the thin film of an unimportant wet and dirty rock amongst the void, each of us individually believing (to varying extents, but ultimately our detriment) that WE are somehow the center of it all, some even believing that it was all... Made for us?? Laughable. We are not special in this way. The universe doesn't give a damn about you or I, or care if we can or can not parse it all before we die in a statistically and relatively instant fraction of time. Consider that microorganisms live in thin films in toilets, in tiny colonies, fighting wars to conquer the space in non remarkable toilets all over Earth, in between flushes from users that don't even care to think about us or anything about us. Just as a reminder, you and your brothers and sisters of a like kind are, in this tenuous at best metaphor, the bacteria that just reproduce mindlessly out of the most primitive emotion of all, extinction, instead of the alternate strain that might actually try and get answers, insight, and comprehension into the reality they are a part of. Either wake up, evolve, or shut the f**k up before you try and make some sweeping, sarcastic declaration that any middle school child would confidently and immediately know is unfounded. We have data, tools, metrics, infrastructure, education, and scientific methods with peer review, instant global communication, and more of a precedent than any other time in history, and it's time to move past the anecdotal, draconian rituals that got us here. They served a purpose, a long time ago, and who knows what civilization would be like if religion never existed. The same could be ruminated for anything and everything. But it's unnecessary and unbecoming of you. The fact is that, through events transpiring over localized space and throughout time, we are the bizarre combination of casual results that we are as human beings. We could have been anything. But the 'big bang' produced us. And wouldn't it be awesome to truly know more about what could be reasonably considered God, were we to have to label something as such, and learn about the cosmos? Imagine!! Oh please do objective mindedly imagine with me: leaving behind a false, distant, inconsistent and incongruent story that was made up to force people to get in line and not be jerks to everyone, and use all that brainpower that was just gained from everyone in a similar stupor to your own, to truly learn more about that god? Are you really so blinded and manipulated by others promising only that which comes to you after you would cease to exist in EVERY capacity, on into perpituity, that you think it is remotely less beautiful to entertain the much more well-founded perspective that each and every one of us and our ancestors before us are wielding the most complex things in the universe we currently know of our can construct, right on each of our heads, all as tiny parts of a whole with agency, and pieces of that which is The Universe as it begins waking up for the first time on a cosmic time scale, opening it's eyes and beginning to see itself for the first time, and as it begins trying to understand itself??? I think not. Your god lacks imagination. It lacks morality and it lacks beauty. It holds power only over the ignorant and shivering masses and above all else, it lacks evidence. The latter's all that matters, girl. The Latter Day Saints certainly friggin do not.

God is dead, and I almost wish that were not the case, so I could somehow thank them for it. Instead, I'll go on appreciating existing instead of slobbering on some imaginary chud's sandles so i don't worry about being condemned and tortured by them, as they proclaim to love us, and while they divide and numb us to the real beauty that has been there to see all along, if we care to. Your god is a loser, when you get to your afterlife you can tell them I said that, okay dear? I'm sure that it'll work out exactly like you think it would, my sweet summer child.
