You have to do that much slower and maybe show it from a higher angle .. What's this "Cross over and Down" move? I've watched it like 10 times and I still can't tell where you're feeding it. Thanks!

i'm looking at going full circle. My past thinking was that I needed zippers. But no. Zippers are a big weight addition. Take the zipper off of your sleeping bag and use a camping quilt, and you save weight. Take the zipper off of your hammock and go back to a bottom entry and you save weight again. A packable heat reflective mattress is needed. The Hennessy mat is close.. .. Thanks. Nice kit.

I cant lie on the diagonal because of a back injury can I still use it lengthwise since I lie like a banana? I just got the HH Jungle Expedion zip to replace my old expedition bottom entry I fought with every time to exit

Just bought a hyperlite is there a head and a foot end for the rain fly when it’s covering the hammock?
@patricktompkins5704
@patricktompkins5704 11 ай бұрын
The rain fly shouldn't have a specific head or foot as long as it matches up with the asymmetric angles of the hammock.

I thought the same thing because of the label on the hex fly being near the foot end. But with the Hyperlite rainfly, I found I just needed to adjust it over and over until i perfectly centered it. I spoke to the company and there is a 30D hex rainfly I want to upgrade to without sacrificing too much weight, but its sold out at the moment.

My hiking partner used a customized version of the Hennessy Hammock on our thru hike attempt of the Appalachian Trail in 2012 ...He had to use a down under quilt in the mountains though due to the cold with a tarp and mosquito netting he had added to his as they didn't have mosquito netting at that time ... they came out with a version I believe with the mosquito netting the next year... he said someone stole his idea when he saw the new version ! LOL .. used Whoopee cords to hang it ... it was really handy for packing up your pack in the rain ... since I had a one man tent .. I often used his tarp to get under when it was raining to pack my stuff up in my pack when it was raining ... You would have a problem setting it up in the Alpine regions in the mountains where there were no trees though he told me there was a technique using trekking poles to set it up but he never showed me that and he left the trail due to injury before we got to the only section of the AT that had an alpine region

You forgot to mention they are asymmetrical so you can lie on your side if you want .. I believe I remember my hiking partner saying that as he was the one using the Hennessy

I'd just like to comment on how amazing this hammock has been for me: **(TL:DR = Had my HH hammock for over a dozen years; used the hell out of it yet it still looks & works like new; best gear I've ever owned; only piece of equipment I haven't upgraded or replaced since it's purchase 12 years ago.)** I've had this model HH for over 12 years now (2009-2021) and it has been, hands down, the best investment in my outdoor inventory I've ever purchased. I've never had a single issue with construction or durability, and it looks just as good now as the day I bought it. That speaks volumes because, while I do properly maintain my gear, I never go easy on it. If there was a weak point in this design I'm sure I would've easily found it within the first few months, by which time I'd done been on a dozen or more trips with it. I've used this hammock so many times and in so many woodlands & mountain ranges that I couldn't begin to give a number to the nights I've spent in it. I've owned probably a dozen tents over the years, ranging from ultralight 3 season backpacking tents to very nice expedition style 4 season tents, yet this has always been part of my preferred sleep-system unless I'm forced to use a portaledge or summit tent during alpine accents. Not once have I ever even thought about moving to a different design. That statement also speaks volumes because I'm a extremely strong supporter of outdoor manufacturers from my home state, which includes ENO Outfitters based out of Asheville, NC. Although I was tempted to support them on that reason alone, I just don't believe their products compares to those designed by HH. I purchased my hammock in 2009 from a local outfitter while there to pick up supplies for a snowboarding trip in West Virginia I was about to embark on. I'd eyed this hammock a few months before while getting trad climbing & whitewater kayaking gear for my local runs near my home in the mountains of North Carolina. ENO Outfitters were just starting to make a splash with their hammocks during this time, and my interest had been peaked. So while I was there I bought this Expedition Classic to throw into my rotation of gear I would be switching out that late spring -to- early fall after my winter season had ended. I never had a clue that it'd fundamental change the way I spent my time in the outdoors. I now prefer to bring this tent everywhere with me where I think I'll be able to pitch it rather that be a week long music festival, a weekend solo backpacking head-clearer, or a month long recon to check out river runs & mountain pitches. Hell I've even been forced to use it as an emergency ground bivy more times than I'd like to admit, all during fairly gnarly situations, yet the only thing I thought during and after was how much more comfortable the experience had been compared to the dedicated "bear taco" bivy sacks I've been forced to use in the past. I've even used this during a climb, on the side of a huge granite wall attached to a rusty bolt and questionable cam, because my friends expensive portaledge decided to give up the ghost during the approach. Quality gear at a fair price point is something that's badly missing during these times when the outdoor community seems to have lost their way. Everyone is either at one end or the other of the spectrum; from super expensive nanolight gear that you'll have to remortgage your house for, or cheaply made big box store brand equipment that breaks while taking it out of the packaging. Our community seems to have also been overrun by those who wish to talk down towards newbies for not buying what they use or always criticizing their peers for mixing things up and not using "trending" gear (sorry get on my soapbox & off target here). To end with, I'd just like to thank y'all for making an amazing piece of gear that I've come to love. To anyone who reads this and wonders if these are good for you, my answer is.... I don't know, lol. All I can say is that for my personal needs, which includes: - a semi lightweight shelter that can keep me dry no matter what, - something that's fairly easy to setup/take down so I can move fast, - can be setup in a wide variety of ways depending on the environment I'm in, - is extremely durable to withstand the crazy amount of stress I'll exact on it during it's lifetime, - doesn't stand out like a neon sign while I'm using it in remote areas, - and (most importantly) offers me an amazing nights sleep no matter the terrain underfoot, for those reasons along with many, many others this has been the best system I could've ever hoped for!! It's extremely rare for me to make a review on any of my gear, much less taking the time to type out one this long on my mobile device for a 4 year old clip with a handful of views. But this company definitely deserves to go more mainstream in the world of great outdoor gear designers. P.S.- pretty sure I'll nab me one of the bigger 2 bottom models very soon so I can see how much earlier/later in the year I can add on the joy of being in a hammock. Not sure what I'll go with yet, but I believe that whatever I choose will last longer than all my other gear. After all, I'm pretty sure I don't have any other piece of gear from around the same time period as my current hammock that hasn't ended up completely worn out or that I would still trust to use far into the Backcountry. IMO Hennessy Hammock's are bombproof and the very best you can buy for yourself. Thanks for read 😁 = M. W. Harris, (Mountain, River, and Trial name = Oakie)

How much is shipping in the US? I want one of each and see on the website that orders over $50 get free shipping. If it’s only a couple bucks shipping I’ll order immediately. I just ordered an asymetrical tarp with minimum coverage and I think these would be great to keep my stuff in during the day when I’m away from camp so I don’t have to worry about anything getting wet. I figure my bugnet and hammock will keep any blowing rain off of my important stuff and the hammock will dry very quickly as soon as any blowing rain stops. I also like the idea of keeping extra insulation in them in the winter so I can add layers as I cool off after laying down at night. I don’t always like having everything in the hammock on top of me because I’m usually pretty warm when I first lay down. They look absolutely awesome!

If setting up hammock across a long span, you would have to tie the lashing with tree strap higher overhead. It seems like it would be easier to attach rope to tree strap and then do "The Lashing" technique to the end of the hammock.

Hell yeah Tom! You are the MAN! I love my HH Explorer Asym. This Jungle Safari Asym will be my next hammock. You make and produce the absolute Best top QUALITY hammocks I've ever seen/used. I will strictly buy and recommend for life buddy. I've personally owned one ENO and one Blackbird. But are nice, but do not come close to ny Hennessy. Thanks man!
