Let me make a small correction. Rob going the route he is going represents the greatest benefit for for the most people including to 1) Himself 2) Those of us who donate and 3) Anybody else who comes across his messages and can perceive how essential they are and can implement some aspect of repentance in their lives. Rob could likely get a job and devote more of his time to supporting his family however these benefits to the world would be lost and could not be regained. He is one of those people that only comes along once in a generation and to have him downsize his life, move his family and work at some task outside of his area of expertise would be a tragic loss to many people. He knows that and so do some of us and that’s why it is important to support him. The videos you and Jared made make it sound like because he was cancelled he can’t work - perhaps him being cancelled was a great blessing to those who can be benefitted by the extra time he has to reflect more light to the world. When I think of Rob Smith these words come to mind: “For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift? Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither rejoices in him who is the giver of the gift.” Thank you for your message of support and your pleas on behalf of Rob, I bare witness to what you and Jared posted and hope that more people can recognize and more properly value what he has given to the world at such an extremely high price.

Great video! Lots of great teaching points! When I was in college I had a girlfriend for about 2 weeks before I met my wife. When I met this girl, the Spirit very directly told me not to pursue that relationship, but I was obstinant and went ahead with it anyway because I had never had a girlfriend, I was lonely, and I was tired of always being alone and watching everyone else have a good time dating. Well, short story, that whole experience turned into a disaster! It hurt me. It hurt her. And I learned the hard way. After the breakup, I was super depressed for about a month. I was very angry and hurt. And I hated being alone again. But man, did I learn! But I wonder how much better off I would have been if I had just followed the Spirit to begin with. I also wonder how that may have hurt her, short term and long term. When we are selfish, dishonest, and disobedient to the Spirit, bad things happen. It's that simple.

The formal name for female testing is "compliance testing". The informal name for it is "sh*t testing". If they ask you to do something that is off or you don't want to do, you calmly and firmly look them directly in the eye and say, "No."

No, that's a good word to use. Set the boundaries.

Why don't men test women?
@DesignWonk2 ай бұрын
Some do. I have. But IMHO most guys seem to want the relationship to work so badly that they let all sorts of stuff slide. Asking for favors/stuff/help is seen as non-masculine (e.g. men not asking for directions). And I don't actually think women test consciously. It's just driven by emotion in the moment.
@MountainTop4622 ай бұрын
Yes, that should be done, especially while dating and before making a long term commitment. We make it too easy. We are afraid to be alone.
@axjkhl76992 ай бұрын
everyone is wrong. women test you because they don't love you and they evaluate you in terms of utility. men protect (love), women test (evaluate protection)
@MountainTop4622 ай бұрын
I think they are always looking for an upgrade. Can I do better? You have to be on your A game all the time. They are looking for the best guy they can get that will take them. Most have an over valued option of themselves.

Women test you because they don't trust themselves, so they want to be with someone they trust more than themselves. A woman is an unwinnable argument and an impassible test. You pass that test by not focusing on passing that test. If you strive to impress, trust and respect yourself by being all you can be, maintaining your integrity, and accomplishing a mission that matters to you, you will. If your life is foremost between you and God, and you don't lose that focus, the rest, including women their tests, will sort itself out naturally as a byproduct. It will be difficult and you will get hit in the head by life, a lot, but that is the best strategy there is. If you focus on impressing women, or a woman, and passing their tests, you will receive only pain in return.
@MountainTop4622 ай бұрын
So true. Live your life, accomplish your goals, live your dreams, women are welcome to come along, or stay behind. They have to ask for permission to enter your kingdom. They are entering your world, not you to hers.

@@MountainTop462 Yes. and yet young men are taught the opposite from a very early age. Dont lead, follow. Today in most schools, and many with out fathers, and many who do have a father around who models the opposite. You can see where this would cause major problems. I’m 56 and my answer is that they’re bat crap crazy. While there’s a lot I could comment on I’ll stick with the test idea. I think it’s wrong to call it a test because that implies you can pass it. I’ve only ever known women who will continue to push harder and harder. It’s not a matter to see if you pass, it’s to see how much it takes before you fail.

Brigham Young - "The closer people apply their minds to any correct purpose the faster they can grow and increase in the knowledge of the truth. When they learn to master their feelings, they can soon learn to master their reflections and thoughts in the degree requisite for attaining the objects they are seeking. But while they yield to a feeling or spirit that distracts their minds from a subject they wish to study and learn, so long they will never gain the mastery of their minds." Obtaining our desire, which comes from, requires mental mastery. All good things received come by those who have applied their mind to obtaining it that thing.

I used to be a cutter amongst other things and I understand the mindset. I'm thankful to be self harm free for a few years now but I can tell you it is definitely to redirect the inner emotional pain to a physical area. It is a temporary bandaid that doesn’t really help. I am glad to not do it anymore but I understand it. Your video was suggested in my algorithm and I'm glad I saw it. I am also adopted and experienced a lot of painful experiences. We do recover. Beautiful words of encouragement for the discouraged. To add if I may, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even them that believe on his name." The power is in us if we believe him (sin no more and adopt his character) to overcome depression, anxiety, or any self harm.

Great message. I liked the cigarette analogy. There are people literally dying of lung cancer that won't give it up. On the other end of the spectrum, I had a grandpa who quit cold turkey because he found himself reaching for a cigarette one day and realized it was something controlling him. He did not know of the health effects at that time, but did not want to be enslaved by anything and so stopped. If only more people had faith like that in all aspects of life! The spectrum of faith and or unbelief is so wide and I am grateful you bring attention to this.

It is difficult for young men to comprehend costs. I regularly joke (but in all seriousness) that if I had really grasped the concept of value by the age of 14-16, I would be a multi-millionaire or equivalent character by now. The sooner young men today start thinking about true value in life the better, and what better way to start than to approach an honorable father for guidance? Thanks for the message!
@MountainTop4625 ай бұрын
Thanks Forrest! Young men these days have to be smarter, wiser, and faster to adapt than we were at their ages. Time seemed to move at a slower more manageable pace back then.

Beautiful sunrise and a fitting lesson. Paul puts it as: "... whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things" (Philippians 3:19).In the past it was normal for me to feel a slump after a nice vacation. The hose bib analogy is a great illustration of why that would be. Aligning to the right purpose and intent will resolve the slump and can even exploit the vacation to accomplish objectives. Thanks Chris!
