Whens the best time of day to water? The leaves on my gerainiums looking wiltery
@BathGardenCenter7 күн бұрын
Hello! It is always best to water in the morning! This gives them enough time to soak up the moisture they need before the heat sets in. The leaves still may look a little wilted during the hottest part of the day, but this is likely just the plant conserving energy. If they don't perk back up when the day cools down, give them a little more water!

Well most of mine died. I released them in a shady wet area. Maybe they were already dead in the package, because in the morning I saw that they had died very close to the area I released them. I just ordered some more. I will try again.

Oh no! We are sorry to hear this. Shipping bugs can be difficult, especially if weather is still cold. It is difficult to say what could have happened without knowing more info. You can almost always find ladybugs in store at our garden center. This way you don't have to gamble with having them shipped. Let us know if we can help in any way!

@@BathGardenCenter I live between San Antonio and Austin. The night time temp has been in the 60’s and the daytime temp is in the lower 80’s at this time. Before I release them it had been raining. I am not sure what happened. Well the ladybugs sat at our local post office for two days before they reached my house. I am thinking that was the problem. A new shipment arrives this Thursday.
@BathGardenCenter17 күн бұрын
I see! Thank you for the extra details. It does seem like you did everything right! Though I would say that the ladybugs sitting at the post office for a couple of days could definitely have been the issue. I hope things go better with round two!

Great video! I was also curious about how often should I water the plants?
@BathGardenCenter24 күн бұрын
It is difficult to say exactly how much to water, as this will depend very much on how warm the weather is, where they are located, pot size, etc. We recommend feeling the soil, and it if the top inch is dry to the touch, its time to water! When you water, be sure to water thoroughly and let the excess water drain out the bottom. Checking the soil several times per week especially during the heat of the summer is recommended!

@BathGardenCenterАй бұрын
Hello! All of the plants in the background are mums, actually! When we created this video, it was early in the season so they were just not in bloom yet. Unlike a lot of other retailers, we don't force our mums to bloom early. We let them bloom naturally, and purchasing mums before they are in bloom actually means you will get to enjoy their blooms for longer. Let us know if we can help clarify anything else!

What time is the best time to fertilize Orchids in the morning or evening
@BathGardenCenterАй бұрын
Hello! Fertilizing isn't specific to the time of day, although watering in the morning will allow excess moisture to evaporate quicker to help prevent bacteria build up on the stem and leaves. Orchid fertilizing is specific to dilution and frequency in order to have the healthiest plant with the largest blooms. Here at Bath, we recommend half the dilution rate of what is recommended on the fertilizing container. Fertilize every other watering is ideal, as this will help to flush out the salts that may build up from frequent fertilizing. I hope this answers your question! Please let us know if we can help with anything else. :)

Thank you so much for this video! I love plants but unfortunately so do my cats and if they can reach them, they will chew on the leaves. Wall plants are beautiful, but some counters deserve a little tlc, and so closed terrariums are what I'm thinking about doing. May need to get museum putty though to keep them from knocking them over...
@BathGardenCenter2 ай бұрын
Hmm yes, that does sound like a dilemma. Closed terrariums may be the perfect option for you. Depending on the size also, it may be heavy enough that your cats will not be able to knock it over. Since many of them include soil and rock and sometimes sand, not to mention water, terrariums can be somewhat heavy. Let us know if we can help with your terrarium journey!

Which fertilizer for newly transplant orchids
@BathGardenCenter5 ай бұрын
Hello! If you have just recently repotted or transplanted an orchid, we suggest waiting a couple of weeks (2-4 weeks) before fertilizing. Repotting plants can put the plant under some stress, and fertilizing the plant immediately can add more stress on top of that, which in some cases can set back the plant or cause it to die. Give it some time to settle into its new pot or environment, then fertilize it with an nitrogen rich orchid fertilizer like this one: shop.bathgardencenter.com/item/080986051210/Grow-More-Orchid-Fertilizer-1-25-lb Also, be sure not to fertilize too heavily. You may think you are doing your orchid a favor, but too much fertilizer will burn the roots of the plant and it may not be able to recover. Sometimes less is more. :) If you have any other questions, let us know!!

Is it ok if I don't use fertilizer at all? 🤔
@BathGardenCenter6 ай бұрын
It is not required that you use fertilizer on your annual flowers, however they may begin to look scraggly, dull, or unhealthy if they lack the nutrients necessary to grow strong and healthy and vibrant. We recommend fertilizing to get the most out of your annual plants, though that is a decision that is completely up to you!

The ladybugs that are sold are only native to certain parts of the US and are also almost always captured from the wild, which is not eco-friendly. Keeping whatever native ladybugs are in your garden is amazingggg. But releasing purchased ones is not a great idea.
@BathGardenCenter6 ай бұрын
Hello! We appreciate your opinion on this matter. However, we would like to point out that we acquire ladybugs from a very environmentally conscious, family owned company. We would not sell ladybug species that would not survive in the area, and they actually thrive in many different environments. Ladybugs do an amazing job of helping control unwanted pest populations, reducing the need to use harsh chemicals that have a negative impact on our environments. Releasing ladybugs has no negative impact on the ladybugs themselves or the environments they are introduced into, and in our opinion, it is a significantly better option to introduce ladybugs into your garden areas than it is to use harsh chemical pesticides that have been proven to have many negative side affects.

Omg please help I think my 12 year old monstera has scale bugs? And I just to cry please help?
@BathGardenCenter7 ай бұрын
Oh no! We are so sorry to hear that. Definitely wipe down the leaves and try to remove as many visible scale as possible. Then we recommend using a systemic houseplant pest control! Product link: shop.bathgardencenter.com/item/037321009511/Bonide-Systemic-Houseplant-Insect-Control-8-oz Mix the above product with water and then water your plant with the solution. Your monstera will soak the pest control solution up into its leaves and when the scale feed on your plant, it will poison them. Continue to water your plant with the systemic solution until you dont see any more scale! If you need more help, we have a houseplant help page on our website! www.bathgardencenter.com/houseplant-consultations We also have an extensive blog you can reference >> www.bathgardencenter.com/post/how-to-get-rid-of-scale Please let us know your questions and we are happy to help answer them!

Okay, now how do I squeeze the rootball now that it's in that ceramic pot?
@BathGardenCenter8 ай бұрын
Great question! If your African violet is planted in a ceramic pot, we recommend tipping the pot on its side and inserting a long, straight object like a butter knife or chopstick into the soil around the edges of the pot. This will loosen the soil, allowing you to gently pull at the base of the plant to remove it from its current pot. Keep in mind not to pull too hard at the base of the plant, as this could break leaves or damage roots. If you are struggling to remove your plant from the container, continue to gently loosen the soil around the edges of the pot until the plant is easily removed. Allowing the soil to dry out slightly before attempting to remove the plant from the pot can also help, as lack of moisture will cause the soil to shrink. Be careful not to let it dry out too much though, as this could cause damage to the plant. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

You are growing in a Greenhouse you bonehead! People need to know what to grow outdoors at high altitude! Not in an enclosed environment. For Pete's sake!
@BathGardenCenter8 ай бұрын
While this video was shot in one of our greenhouses, every single vegetable that was shown or mentioned in this video can be grown outdoors in Northern Colorado and do not require a greenhouse for continued growth. Fort Collins sits at around 5,000 feet in elevation, and this growing guide is based on that. All of these vegetables can be grown at higher elevations as well for those who live further up in the mountains. For growing at elevations higher than 5,000 feet, measures may need to be taken to protect plants from frost in early or late season.
