I’ve enjoyed the videos but much more important you take care of your mental health- and it’s brave of you to put it out there. Hope you can come back and enjoy the game in a healthy way eventually. If you do find yourself still compelled to play, I would suggest unrated games. I know it’s not as good for the algorithm without the ‘road to XXXX elo’ theme but much easier to put a loss in perspective without a number ticking down.

Do Yoga, meditation and take few weeks breaks where try to repeat tactics and checkmate pattern to set up in mind before playing new games..revising basics again and again improve mental weakness...Good luck and look forward for your comeback solidly.

Hang in there, Kenny. Sending prayers your way! It's really hard to struggle with your relationship with 'everyday things' like games, when other people can't understand those struggles and they say really unsupportive things because they don't have that bad relationship and they can't understand it. Sorry if I've ever left any dismissive comments myself. I've had similar struggles with food and eating. It's really hard, but you're not alone, and I hope you get the help you need!

I have found tremendous comfort in simply telling myself "It's okay if I lose." before playing a game. You don't need to win every game, your rating will climb as you learn.

Kenny, you did fine with this game. You got the dub. Yeah it was a little messy, but these are the types of loses you want to have. You want to lose games where there's a clear weakness we can address. All your missing is a willingness to cash out material into winning endgames. You were up so much you just need to be willing to play up a whole knight against nothing but pawns. Practice simple winning endgames against the computer (things like up a whole piece) then move to less obvious winning endgames as you get better. You can easily gain a 100 points with just a little bit of targeted practice.
@FGKChess
@FGKChess Ай бұрын
I don't think not trading material was the issue this game, but you tell me which move I could have forced trades. I blundered my rook late game by not seeing the check.
@coltith7356
@coltith7356 Ай бұрын
You dominated the whole game but the end was messy when you decided to just use their time deficit to play faster. I think with such a big material advantage you should have looked into trading as many pieces as possible, because there is no way that they would have checkmated you with only a rook and pawns or a queen and pawns especially with so many pawns so far back But hey, you were winning the whole time and you only messed up when you decided to actively stop thinking too much and use their clock against them so overall it's not like you played poorly or something, I think it was fine, you just chose an inadequate strategy

Just look at your opponent's blitz rating when you play rapid. You'll develop a sense for players blitz ratings. Typically there's around 200 points lower in blitz.

2 min in and already cinema what a game wp man. Pandoras box is the correct word usage yes. You can translate your quick thinking for the blitz games into higher elo for 10 min ones too. GL, its worth
@coltith7356
@coltith7356 Ай бұрын
I like this sort of new format where you play one rapid and one blitz game, it's not too long a video, it allows you to start playing blitz more and also it's a different vibe because there's more rythm to it. I think I like it better than when you did two rapid games so I hope you like it too and that you'll keep doing this when you're not too tilted (also, I think today's rapid game was fine even though it didn't go that well and you were pretty disappointed - and also I forgot to comment on these videos but I like that you played new games (like that livestream or the TCG game), it's a different vibe and you're havig (more ?) fun, but I would keep them around 30/40min like the first TCG one to make it easier to watch in one go)
@Linkfanoftheyear

Blitz players are (usuallly) about 200 points lower than their rapid rating. Varies from person to person though. It's normal to struggle when switching time controls
@stelixhyx808
@stelixhyx808 Ай бұрын
damn im surprised you got a 800 in 3 mins as a 1600 in 10. I'm at 16/1700 across all formats and imo lower time has inflated elo(in terms of pure chess skill not accounting for speed) because you can, well cheese opps lol. I think after 10-20 games of this you'll easily manage to reach 1.5k

Yeah seeing where pieces can go is always a bit difficult. For the king I sort of got used to it by highlighting the squares to force myself to look for it and then it becomes easier because you can keep track of what changed, but I know that for queen traps for example I have a huge blind spot because in my head the queen just registers as "strong and fast, goes everywhere" so my brain doesn't even try to check where she can and can't go
@Linkfanoftheyear

The game review doesn't matter at that high an evaluation. If every move is winning it'll give really funky feedback. It was funny seeing the best move vs. inaccuracy though. Good checkmate at the end there. Great job.

That was a cool win, I was anxious the entire time because every time you stopped to calculateI was thinking "play this play this" and then I realized I was only finding blunders and thought "don't play this don't play this" Also it's cool that you're back after your break now that uni has started again and I don't want you to feel bad when you post these videos because of dumb comments, people are mean because they want to feel good about themselves, don't give them too much credit or attention, they aren't even making any sense most of the time. Like that guy from the video where you played blitz, he was completely out of his mind, you shouldn't care about what these people say, they don't want you to become better, they just want to boost their ego. I personally enjoy every video, I even refresh the page when I don't get the notification to make sure I don't miss the daily game, so doing what you're doing and don't put too much pressure on yourself

Putting the bishop on a5 is good because it controls d8, preventing your rooks from moving to the open file. See your two rooks staring at the a7 and h7 pawns? They need to move to more active squares, your opponent is trying to stop you from doing that. The reason you lost this game is because instead of thinking "where can I put my worst pieces so they are more active?" like you should be in positions like these you pushed some pawns on the other side of the board. You should always be thinking, "can I improve my pieces."

Cool to see a blitz game, I remember a few months ago you said you wanted to try playing more blitz but then it never happened until today, and it was quite fun. I think that to improve the commentary during blirt games where you don't have time to talk it would be nice to build up the reflex of saying where you move your pieces so that it's a bit more chess-y than "here here here". Other than that, I really liked this video

Hi Kenny! Great video again, really love your channel.. I learn a bunch, but I also have some tips: 'My king might be in a difficult position, but that's ok'. Actually no, that is not ok. Based on the last 10 games you played I notice that you (rarely) castle. And if you do it's already 'too late' (no real defense for the king left). Why don't you focus on the basics first? Developing towards the center, develop your pieces and castle your king. Ofcourse there are exceptions; but it's much safer/better to start an attack while your king is secured.. And I would highly recommend (not based on this game though, more on other games) to take your time and calculate position. I think you have a great vision, but the most blunders you make come from the fact that you play way to fast.. Being 80% through a game and still having 8 minutes left on the clock is just insane. For me that is a sign that you had like 5 more minutes to come up with better moves.

I'm just playing to have fun. I'll get better over time. No need to write an essay on everything I do wrong, but thank you for trying to help. I'll keep the castling thing in mind, but that's really the only thing from your comment I really might consider. I get comments like this all the time from people trying to "help me" but that's not what this channel is about. Please just watch and enjoy the good play and the bad.
