love hearing the LPR and all the sounds someone who knows how to play can get from it ;) I've owned my '73 since december 1974 and really haven't explored all the settings. but most recently I've moved it back to a more 'original' string gauge (if anyone knows what the G-640 set was 12 - 57, 3rd wd) but I've 'reproduced' the G-040L set (11, 15, 22w, 28, 30, 40, 50) and the sound is gorgeous! (much fuller than the 10/46 I had previously)

Your lick is also reminiscent of Steve Howe's Close to the Edge lick. Yes, G&L's shine! P.S. I like your sled.amp stand!

Hi! What kind of pots are in that? 250k or 500k? Cheers!

I actually don't know - I might open it up soon though, to put some different caps in the mud switch and maybe bypass one or two volume knobs. I'll let you know then!

Yup, a G50-410 - it's a really great solid state amp, I used to gig it a lot

I think I knew that Les himself liked these - of course.....we never saw Les with anything like factory-issued Gibson! That alone makes these quite special. The range of sounds is impressive but it must take some time to get to know those controls! Great sound demo - thanks!

I have an original 87' Torino Red AM Std. Strat and a 93' Strat Plus Deluxe in Mystic Black. the 87' is pure strats we all know and love while also being very "80's" sounding. the 93' is ridiculously majestic. I cannot put in to words what that thing can do. Anyone reading this.. If you've never played one in stock form, do it.

I hope you can find the demo disc that came in Guitar Player Magazine where Les Paul demos this guitar. The sounds I remember are fantastic.

I love this guitar. Just some advice for your camerawork here: when you are talking to your audience, don't use interview side shots. They are awkward and make it look like you are talking past your viewers. Kinda like when someone won't make eye contact during a conversation. It's an unprofessional camerawork faux pas that is often mis-used by the likes of Ben Shapiro to give the misguided impression of production quality, but it's just jarring. Those second angle camera shots are known as 'interview' shots because they are useful in interviews where there are two subjects discussing something and the viewer is not part of it. You should always be speaking directly to the camera when speaking to the viewer. The side shots are fine when you're playing the guitar for close-ups or whatever. Never when addressing the viewer though. It's film-school 101 stuff.

Thanks for this demo ! Very interesting. Do you think mustang pickups fit in a Melody maker ? (Same cover dimensions ?) I love the tone of the mustang, and looking for pickups for a MMaker sg project Thanks !

I'm not really sure, I think (but I don't have a melody maker on hand to test it), that the MMaker pickups are shallower

On the first one, it's a Solidgoldfx Imperial MkII Fuzz and a Pigtronix Echolution Phi Delay. On the one at the end just the Echolution Phi (perhaps, but not sure, just a tiny bit of harmonic tremolo from the Fairfield Randy's Revenge)
