Perhaps buying the Mrs a case of chewing gum? No offense- either that or have her get her own channel;)

You need a different camera operator preferably one that can't talk

This is astoundingly stupid. No wonder aussies are going extinct. Cant saw a straight line, bungie cord clamps, wedges a mattock. You got problems bud.

I stumbled on this just when I needed it. Have new handle ready to fit to my mattock. I will go and buy a wedge now you've shown me how to finish the job. Thanks.

How refreshing to see hand tools being used. Thanks for the video - it was most helpful. PS. What a lovely dog!

Thanks for explaining what a bungee cord is. As a person hailing from an English speaking country it helped to clarify an otherwise complicated issue

Don’t do this. Wedges are not required and weaken the timber. If you dunt (hit) the end of the wood against the ground the head will jamb on securely, which is exactly the same friction fit that he is achieving with the wedge, only with more work. The excess can be cut off as he did but using a mattock normally the end of the shaft won’t be in the way and the extra length protects the important part of the shank from rotting. Not all mattocks use oval tapered shanks like this. I’ve never fitted one with a square shank before, so I came here to see if I could learn something, actually it was almost identical to fit but they are not as standard is shape as the oval shanks.

Hi James, glad your method of hitting the end of the wood on the ground works for you. I have never been able to get that system to hold secure for more than perhaps an hour of digging through hard dry ground. I am pleased for you :)

Should have hammered it in tightly & do not cut yet the extra length of wood. Let’s it matured/dry off.

You need to throw some soy sauce in with your kit. They're edible and last a half decent stretch at least :)
