Love that sewing machine you got there! From Germany, you say? Fabulous, I’ve got an old Singer myself. Never let go of that one. Did you configure the table for it yourself? 😊👍

Thanks! Do you have a video of this but with a square bottom or rectangular bottom? Something wide at the bottom?
@janemaarpell9825 Жыл бұрын
Hello, I just saw your comment cuz I don't check this channel very often. I don't have a video on that but it's not very difficult to do a square bottom. I might actually make a new video for this but I'll put it on my new channel. Next week look on the my bucolic Life channel and I'll have a video for it

Hi I make feed bags too lately my bottom thread balls up on my bag, I tried lowest tension but it’s not sewing smoothly so I need to know how you set your settings? Great idea line your bags! I don’t & I use grommets & add soft rope for handles! 😊thank you!
@janemaarpell9825 Жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry it took so long to get back. I actually don't change my tension at all. I just leave it where I would sew normal fabric. Maybe the problem is that your needle needs to be a different size? At the worst case, try wrapping a piece of tissue paper or a cash register receipt around the edge as you sew the bottom seam. It might grab better. Good luck!

Wow this really brought back memories from when I was a little boy in the early 60's. My Mother had an old machine from her Grandmother and she would make her own clothes and some of mine and my brothers. She also made all the draperies in our home and I always thought they were beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents.

Have you done one with a liner that you do a square bottom on?
@janemaarpell98252 жыл бұрын
Hi! Basically the bag is the same, just square out the side pleats and if you want, put a piece of cardboard in the bottom that is the size that fits your bag. If that makes any sense :)

How wide is your webbing? I know the length is 21”. Great tutorial!
@janemaarpell98252 жыл бұрын
Hi! My webbing is about an inch wide. I buy a big roll of it in ebay, about 50 yards to 100 yards at a time. It's pretty light weight.

What machine do you use for stitching these bags?
@janemaarpell98252 жыл бұрын
Hi, I just use an ordinary household sewing machine with a mid range needle. Like a 12 or 14. My actual machine is a 1949 Meisterwerk ancient black machine :)

Well done! Very easy to do!

Love it! And love all your little ideas like the clips and the post it notes for needles. And making that X on the handles is a pain.

Wow this is pretty cool. My only problem is that the music is a little bit loud to hear your voice.

I wish I could fix that. First video issues, just trying to figure it out. Glad you liked it!

Thank you for explaining how to add a lining to these bags. I've been saving our dog food bags and use them for sorting recycle. But I had noticed that my regular cloth grocery bags are beginning to show wear, and the plastic bags will be a great replacement. And you do have a lovely voice by the way.

Very well explained. You have a lovely voice. I think even I could make one of these bags now. Thank you!
