I became a sailor at the age of 17, so for the first time I boarded a merchant ship as a deck cadet. Later I became a third mate, until I reached the age of 26, when I left the work at sea. 40 years have passed since then and I still occasionally miss the cruises (but definitely not the work at the ports). When I was a third mate, there was no electronic equipment in the bridge, as it is today and in the oceans, we navigated using the sextant, the chronometer and the compass. My profile has a photo taken 40 years ago,while i am using the sextant. I would love to be in touch with you.

I spent nineteen years at sea and never had a cabin so spacious and with a fridge and a comfy sofa. 😏

I noticed some wild birds (a finch) on board. Do they stay with you over the whole voyage or were you close to land?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for showing your world to us!

All your videos are great and really give us non-ship or non-oceanfaring types a rare glimpse into the world of ship cargo transport: the long hours, the waves, the exposure, the hard work. I love playing this video in the background to give the feel of being on a ship in the vast ocean. It really gives one a feel for the sheer amount of energy and work needed to bring a cheap pink dildo from China to the U.S.

I never want to go out to sea. But the sea and these giant cargo ships just fascinate me no end. Thank you so much. Show more next time, e.g., the galley. Bye, bye. Happy sailing.

stupid, annoying, unbearable music, instead of original ship-sounds. nobody is interested in your taste in music. NOBODY! if i want music, i will find music.

How do you become a Maersk cargo ship deckhand? Is it hard to get into that line of work?
@lampitlАй бұрын
I never drive these sideways, might pick up or drop the container in that position due to better visibility, but driving a shuttle strad seen in this clip it's either face forward or driving back-end first. Driving sideways hurts both my brain and my spine/ neck/ upper body, for me that driving position is NOT ergonomic no matter what the manufacturer is saying.

I'm so interested for a job like you have, my background is in aviation, but i want to try something different. Being out at sea would be an adventure, great pay, learning, and growing. I got a passport, just need the other two ports.

I can count the times I’ve been on a ship or a boat on my two hands, but maritime stuff fascinates me.
