Hey man, time to come back to KZbin. Your tutorials are really good and have helped a ton of people out. I know life gets busy, but you can find a few minutes to put a fresh video out. Even if it’s a single take on an iPhone, people would be stoked to see you again.

Mixing with 4 decks is not mixing, it's Editing! You can compose almost completely new songs, something you don't find on spotify, something you can only find if you go to clubs! Finally some real house music, no EMD or tech-minimal (as I call it poor house)

Basically no music experience and wanted to start DJing. Watched a whole bunch of videos but still found basic concepts to be confusing. Yours is by far the best!! Thanks for giving me the confidence to move forward!!

Thank you for explaining this so simply. One question I was wondering for you or any other DJs in the comments who might be of help. I’m learning to DJ techno music at the moment. Something I was confused about is how for example you know how long an intro is. For example you said one song had a 16 bar intro and one had an 8 bar intro so you knew to play one half way through the other. Is there a way to know how long these segments are during the set? Or do you manually prepare every song and have them studied before hand?

How did you find out the intro of 8 bars and 16 bars? did you count it before or there is a trick to it?

This is the exact video I've been looking for for so long now! All of these other tutorials focus so much on how to get the tech working, but so few focus on how that should interact with the actual music. I commend you for this, and I think this should be required viewing for any new DJs.

Another way to simplify the explanation of the concept is- mixing based on Form. Those phrases that come together to make sections of the overall structure of a song (Intro/Verse/Verse/Chorus, etc.) create the Form of the song (AABA, 12-Bar Blues, 12-Bar Blues w/8-Bar bridge, etc.). Learn song forms, and it becomes a lot easier to know what you are doing and where to go.

the autoloop function and the hotcue function only work in recordbox, Serato doesn’t have this function, loops in serato have a very different approach.

how could you tell by looking at the waveform that the outro of track A was 16bars and the into to track B was 8bars? they look like a similar length, is there a way to tell?

what do you recommend if you prhase-match but on the 9th bar both tracks come in with lyrics? how can you stop it from sounding too intense

how do you get the phrases e.g. intro, chorus etc to show up on rekordbox? I don't see it on my interface
@markb812 ай бұрын
How do you create that mixing point between the first two tracks. Is it just a regular hot cue? You mixed it in with the volume all the way up. If I try that it’s a lot of the times a little bit off. Is there a setting in recordbox that helps with that? Or should I just practice more 😂

It´s still really hard for me to find out the mixing point.......when you should play both of them at the same time and it matches exactly the same time the music stops and the ones start a new phrase......

Good evening, very nice video, I wanted to ask a question that may be unrelated, but could you recommend a relatively cheap speaker to connect to my Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 DJ Controller and maybe you could tell me what cables I need like usb, rca to connect them because I've seen a lot of videos and I can't find someone to explain them in detail, I also don't know if the computer plays a role but I have a macbook air, thank you very much for your patience🙂
