Should I make an updated version, a one year progression from 2023 to 2024?

You have the determination, now you need a step by step system for progress. In order to reach waves and execute turns, you need speed. I know this might sound counterintuitive, but forget about catching waves for now. Focus on running faster, dropping your board, and taking no more than 2-3 steps before jumping on the board. Do this almost parallel to the shore or at a slight angle, where your run ends in the white water. Don’t go straight into the waves, yet. You need to get to a point where you have speed and board control. Do about 25-50 of these speed exercises every time you skim. Start slowly, then gradually run faster, then gradually even faster, until you are comfortable running fast, dropping your board, and jumping on. Another important thing is when you jump on, stay low with arms out, left arm around 11 oclock position, right arm around 4-5 o’clock position. When I say low, I mean much lower than your posture in 2023. If you master this, you should have some long and fast runs that are almost parallel to the shore. Over time, you can start transitioning your angle to 30, 45, and even 90 degrees, going straight into the waves with much more speed and better chances of turning and riding back to the shore. I began skimming in 1985 in the Newport Beach and Laguna Beach area, where it was considered the Mecca of skimming at the time. I was fortunate to learn these techniques from riders who would eventually become pros with Victoria Skimboards. Good luck to you!
