Interesting. Im secure. I told my avoidant today that it is OK to FEEL good or bad emotions. Emotions never killed anyone and that I was creating a safe place for her to express her emotions safely with no criticism or judgement. Did she really say the V word? lol My avoidant opened up top me twice in the last week expressing her emotions. I was in awe. good video..

@@lgroves336 Lol yes the "V" word is like kryptonite to avoidantly attached people, or at least they have been conditioned to believe it is and so they avoid their own and others vulnerability like the plague. You're doing a fantastic job creating a safe space for your partner; you are helping her heal in ways you may not even understand. I hope things continue to work well for you both

@@user-xn7uu9jt9q hmmm 🤔 I know the almost overwhelming urge I get to share relevant videos, reels, memes and all of that to the people whom I think needs to see them the most. Sometimes it works and a seed is planted, other times it blows up in my face and a fight is started and sometimes its ignored. The important thing is to remember that people have a right to refuse our own points of view regardless of whether we think we're right. So now when I share relevant stuff, I send it without any expectations of the people I'm sending it to, to have the reaction I'd like them to have. It's just information that they can do with as they please. Hope this helps

Both of my Parents were raised in High Conflict Households, and raised 4 Sons...2 pairs of Boys, with 2 distinct Sets of Rules and Expectations. It's almost as if I had different Parents than my Youngest two Brothers, especially. Daddy didn't work through his problems until I was a Teenager. Mama was his Enabler. All I remember was the Yelling and Comparing me to other People's Sons, who were more Athletic. My Regret is I unfortunately Hated Sports, and my Brothers didn't....and our Father couldn't figure that out...

@@user-xn7uu9jt9q I am so sorry you weren't allowed to feel emotionally safe in the one place where you should have unconditional love and safety. No child deserves that. You shouldn't regret being who you are because there's nothing wrong with you. You not having any interest in sports didn't (and still doesn't) make you any less valuable as a man and importantly as a person. God made each of us unique and well and I hope you find healing for every wound you sustained from your childhood. 💛

This is conversation a lot of us may not want to have but it is important. Most people who go on in life and end up being in emotionally abusive relationships, usually came from emotionally abusive homes and the bad behaviour has been normalised.

What happens to us when we understands all these and constantly want to become "soft" but constantly find ourselves around the people who are non dependable especially in relationships and makes us to slide into that comfort zone of figuring out out problems and fixing out stuffs alone that it becomes a comfort zone? How do we navigate this and become a softer version of ourselves so that we dont pass on this trauma? Then when you're in a relationship with emotionally unavailable?
@TheAIMnetwork.
@TheAIMnetwork. Ай бұрын
@@cillia.o8633 Hi Cillia. So if I understand you correctly, you're asking how to apply the knowledge you've learned about trauma and how it affects the way you show up in life and stay soft and emotionally regulated if you keep meeting emotionally unavailable people who trigger your trauma wounds and that makes you go back into survival mode. So how do you stay emotionally stable and regulated (soft) around emotionally unstable and dysregulated people. Is this what you're asking?
@cillia.o8633
@cillia.o8633 Ай бұрын
@TheAIMnetwork. exactly, because most times our past traumas are just being triggered.
@TheAIMnetwork.
@TheAIMnetwork. Ай бұрын
@@cillia.o8633 So here's my honest thoughts about people who trigger us. They get to be themselves; whether that's the healthy versions of themselves or the poisonous version of themselves. Whoever toxic people choose to be is their right and we shouldn't try to change them. The real thing we should focus on is why we're choosing to be the version of ourselves who drinks the poison. You can't control who you attract, but you absolutely can control who you keep in your life and who you throw back into the water. That all depends on how healed you yourself are because if you're also unhealthy, the unhealthy people will come into your life and find a home that resonates with them and they'll stay.

We are whole and complete, period. A partner should be a companion that you enjoy life with, not a requirement or proof that we are worthy

Hi Phillip. First of all, it's great that you have the self-awareness to truly see your patterns, and the courage to admit that there's something there to work on. Have you considered talking to a counsellor or therapist to help you dig into the part of your mind that makes you default to this coping mechanism?
