oh almost forgot - watched your 2001, full metal jacket and no country for old men reactions: Hall i felt sorry for - they were going to kill him - they only saw it a turning of a toaster - Hal was self aware as did not like to be killed (prejudice may be one of the themes in that movie per Hal and it's creaters view of thier creation), per Full Metal Jacket - ya joker was a good guy, he did the right thing with he girl/vs the rats.................ya he was flippant in the whole TV interview "I want to be the first on my block for a confirmed kill" - that was just he being his image in front of camara - not the real him. he was a good guy in hellish realm. per Lew in "no country for old men" - lew sucked fully...................me finding a gut shot mexican with 2 million.....................what would I do? I'd call an abulance and forget about the money - for the guy shot guys sake and chance a life.......................Lew showing up 6 hours later with water counts nothing for me. AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sugar gives him a SECOND chance!!!!!!!!!!!! to redeam hmself (at the cost of his life)- which he rejects, ending up with him and his girlfriend being killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so ya, eastwood is right per his movies "A man had to know his limitations" Lew should have first - called an abulance and forgot about the money, then failing that offered himself to save his girlfriend knowing he was outmatched....................he was offer 2 chances to do the right thing, failed the 1st one out of greed and the second one out of ego...................so hiim dying was no blow to me when i saw it 16 yrs ago - got what was expected.

"tony" was a good guardian angle for Danny - only lacked the full understanding of the danger for Danny - so tony was wrong about the ghosts just being an image and to real early on -but later on tony was on board wrt to the danger. sorry about scatman - died, but he gave his live for a snowcat for wendy and danny to leave in safety. per Jack - jack was not an evil man, just a drunk and flawed (then became posesed by evil ghosts) - the evil spirits of the hotel got him (due to the hotel being built on American Indian grounds - without AI permision - but via force of arms - so the hotel's foundation was tainted from his foundation note the whoe reincarnation thing, there were at least 2 Gradys - "Debert" the one we saw in the 1920's bathroom - but there was also the other one Charles that killed his familiy and himself in the 1970s - just was we see at the end of the movie with Jack - 1980's, and the other in the picture at the end of the movie 1921. - so reinincarnation - traped souls if tyou like human condition movies: so few today - two from that time are : Ordinary People, One flew Over the Coco;s nest (with Scatman and Jack)....................since the 00;s last 20 yrs no american movies are worth shit, but a few foreign ones are tops: "Dark Blue World", "Snowtown", "City of Life and Death". "Final Days of Sophie Schol", "The Hunt", "The Lives of Others". sad but true since 2000 American movies have sucked per the human universal condition, unlike foreign movie in the last 20 yrs. 2 cents.

Some FYIs for you YES - The long black screen at the beginning was the way it was presented in movie theaters. 1) Some of the music pieces are: "Also Sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss which translates to "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" a character of the philosopher Nietzsche 1896. Also the piece "Blue Danube" by Johannes Strauss 1867. Francis Travis- Requiem for Soprano 2) The girl in the video phone is in fact Stanley Kubrick's daughter. 3) The movie came out in 1968 Star wars did not come out until 1978 10 years later. The moon landings was 1969. 4) The special effects in the movie were considered so good at the time many people accused Kubrick of faking the moon landings. 5) After many many years of out-cry about faking the moon landings, Kubrick's daughter had to make a public statement her father never faked the moon landings. 6) The black monolith was destroyed immediately after filming. Just think how much that would be worth today. I would recommend the following movies: Forbidden Planet 1956 Apollo 13 1995 - 1970 I was in junior high school at the time. THANKS FOR YOUR REVIEW!!!

Tom Hardy plays Janovec. He portends the discovery of the camp in the troop transport while reading the article. When asked what it's about, he says "It's about why we're fighting the war. It seems the Germans are bad, very bad." His fellow soldiers mock him until they find the camp. The 101st Airborne encountered one of over a hundred sub camps of Dachau, the first concentration camp established by the nazis in 1933.

You should watch the movie with the DVD commentary. It is made with the real Henry Hill and the FBI agent who made the witness protection deal (who plays himself in the movie.) Incredible insight, it's like viewing Goodfellas II and it's as good as the original.

Digital screens didn't exist in 1968. They were total fiction. At that time all computers output information printed on paper. Computer graphics as well as monitors/displays simply did not exist yet. All the "digital displays" in the movie were created with hand drawn animation played on separate analog video tape machines on regular televisions mounted into the sets. There was no computer graphics back then and everything you see are either paintings or physical objects (models) shot on film. The gravity effects were done where the sets actually rotate ... yes, the entire set rotates. The camera was fixed to the set and when the set rotates the camera goes with it. So it looks like the flight attendant can walk up the walls or Poole can jog around the inner ring of Discovery. IRL computers didn't play chess until the mid 1970's, almost a decade after this movie.

The film was about how evil exists in the world but good has to prevail, hence the dream story at the end. A light in the darkness sort of speak.

I always say that "No Country For Old Men" is about morality. Moss is moral, but very flawed. Because of that, Moss dies. Chigurh is amoral and believes in random violence. In the end, Chigurh is a victim of random violence with a bone sticking out of his arm. The bone sticking out of his arm indicates that he will die soon because he can't seek proper help in the hospital. I remember the book states that he was never found, which leads us to conclude that the cartel disposed of Chigurh's body. The last man standing is Bell, who doesn't realize that he came out on top because he is the most moral person of the the film. There is no indication of any moral flaws in Bell's character. Bell always tries to do the right thing and worries about defeating evil. Bell worries about God never finding him, but his God is his moral integrity, which he never abandons. Moral people worry about the evil in the world often without realizing when they are doing well. His dream in the end indicates that he is following the path of another moral man, his father, who is saving a spot for him (John 14).

People like how realistic the movie is compared to other action dramas. I listened to the audio book and I like that you can hear/read every single thought going into the character's heads. But when it comes to the tension and action the movie does it better. And the part with the cop searching the place and the parts of the evil man hiding: that was the cop just imagining that the man could be there and he was thinking he can die at any moment but he searched the place anyway. In the book the cop talks about the wife being dead and that car crash; talking to the boys who saw it. Not sure if you would be interested in the book but I thought I'd give more context to this story because I know for a lot of people the way it ends is unsatisfying. But it feels like that on purpose. We, and the cop character, feel frustrated that the evil man got away. It's not for everyone but I enjoyed the tone and tension of it and I'm glad you checked it out ✌ It was fun watching it again with you!

Yeah, he killed the wife. Thats why he checked his boots on the way out, to make sure they were clean. We got two scenes showing him not wanting to get blood on his boots (killing the cartel in his socks and putting his boots on the bed to keep Carsons blood off) that let us know thats what he was doing on the way out the house.

Oh man these younger generations have no idea how hard this country try USE TO BE. My uncle who served in the marine corps during Vietnam told us this movie nailed marine corp bootcamp 100%. It’s not anywhere near this anymore, hence how soft and cuddly our military is today. And I can say that because I served in the early 90’s. . We will all find out just how soft we are when we eventually go to war with China.
