I remember this very clearly and just feeling so sorry for Mike Catt who was a great player, but he had zero chance against Lomu in full ramming speed. He completely flattened him and I remember how shocking it was that a guy as big as Lomu was so fast and unstoppable.

What a great centre Conrad Smith. Love from Adam. I really enjoyed your great rugby career. I think Conrad Smith and Ma Nonu were a great centre combination. Thanks again for the great memories.

Fair play & he’s right - he did everything he should have done . It’s simple physics, Jonah was a massive guy moving at speed, there’s probably nobody who could have stopped him in this situation except maybe a massive islander, Inga Tuigamala might have been the only person I could think of that played at that time who could stop Lomu before he was at top speed. But if he got up to top speed then it was goodnight, he’d just run past you or through you. You would usually need at least 3 players to bring him down, but Jonah was excellent at drawing a crowd and then offloading the ball to a free teammate once he had occupied half the opposing team. Quite simply he was the perfect person to play rugby.

I hear he played club Rugby in England in his early year's when he was teaching up there played for the local club near his school,scored all their point's,if i remember, I think the rest of his team where a bit under the weather 😅
