I would have generated the 3d curves by crossing the extrusion of each bidimensional curve rather than adjusting each point. Maybe I'm wrong.
@DuterqueStudioАй бұрын
There are different ways to do, and I think yours would have probably worked too. The important is to find/use the workflow that allows you to achieve the result you are looking for
@tgs1766Ай бұрын
Adding the color invert and then changing the displacement to negative cancel each other out. You need one or the other in this case, not both.

Project does not work. Flow along surface does not work. Hey, here is a suggestion - specify what is special about the surface of the medallion that makes all this work !
@martina53282 ай бұрын
How about starting with showing how to put the text on a fking box or similar, so that the text does not "fall though" to the bottom, regardless of how you try to create a surface or whatever... Rhino is a bloated fking joke. Or the people making tutoprials are fking retared, or why the f is there no fking tutorial showing how to put simple text on a simple surface - there are houndreds showing how to do it on a curved surface. A SIMPLE TEXT ON A SIMPLE BOX THAT YOU CREATED IN RHINO. But no.... When the simplest thing becomes impossible - then you know that you have bloated software in front of you.

What a joke...

Since it is Rhino (i.e. no logic and nothing makes sense, and every move is a trick question), I would like to know the properties of the 3D circle that you start with. Doing the exact same thing with a box will not work. So there is something very specific, some very specific properties that the 3D circle has that you have left out. You cannot simply make a 3D box or 3D circle an repeat the procedure. (That would make too much sense)
@DuterqueStudio2 ай бұрын
doing the exact same thing with a box will work, you probably missed a step
@martina53282 ай бұрын
@@DuterqueStudio No , the text will fall through the surface if put on top of it. Rhino always places the text at the bottom. I wish you could arrange the order as layers, similar to photoshop. And projection gives the error message, - projection missed its target or similar. I did manage to project text on a curved surface following a clip on that - by creating a strip from the curved surface matching its length. Then turning that strip i to a surface. Put text on that surface, and project it back on to the curved surface. But I cannot create the same strip from an already flat surface with the same command. This software is bloated junk.

hey! very nice video- excactly what I am looking for ... just one problem, after I cut the first group of helixes out of my shape, I get a error when I cut the second group out... boolean was no sucessful - can you guess why that is when the first section works well? thanks!
@DuterqueStudio10 ай бұрын
It’s possible that your first boolean generated an open polysurface (if you select it, in the property tab you can see if it’s an open or close polysurface). If that’s the case it might be that the helixes boundaries are too close to the boundary of your shape, try scaling them up slightly and then again the first Boolean

Hello please can I add two different displacement on the same model Is there a way around that?
@jopuckful11 ай бұрын
I did learn some new things with regards to uv curves in Rhino. You might want to think about the fact that you cannot mold a plastic part with the debossed logo created with an offset to the normals of the surface. Draft angle on the logo surfaces and part removal from the injection molded tooling would need to be considered for a real plastic part.

for the tedious process at 30:45, i would recommend clicking the inner trimming curves (where the holes should be) and the outside edge of the surface and using the command "planarsrf" - which creates a single planar surface with all selected curves, leaving the holes open. Then just replace the closed surface with your new one, join I together and done. Otherwise using rounded rectangles for basically every shape here is possible but not what I would recommend, especially not for machined or molded parts like this. Because you use circular rounded edges the continuity of the edge curve breaks at the point where it starts to curve. Imagine driving a car along that line. You would start turning your wheel in one instance all the way and again just suddenly stop cornering. Instead, you slowly increase the steering wheel's angle and after the apex again slowly start decreasing until it's straight again which results in a smooth cornering. In Industrial Design that is called a curvature continuous edge or surface. Depending on how smooth the corner is you call it G0, G1, G2, G3, ... - The Number after the G tells you how many mathematical derivations of the formula that describes that line are again in itself continuous. (Finally are real-life application for derivations ;) ) A simple circular-rounded curve is a G1 fillet while a kink (so no fillet or blend at all) would be a G0. For instance, apple uses a minimum of G4 continuity on all surfaces like it's the standard in automotive design as well. I would assume TE to be similarly meticulous as well, especially with quite simple geometries like on the TX-6
