I think something worth noting is that Watts was alleged to have cheated on his partners throughout his life. That doesn't diminish his words but it does draw attention to the fact that he too was no less afflicted by suffering and vice than anyone else.

As Emerson is more accessible to his audience in the 19th century, Watts is more suitable for us in the 20th and 21st centuries because the verbiage he uses is easier for us to digest.

Being invited to the dinner and some tell you its dirt and sin, keep away. Others tell you just observe, dont get attached to. Both feels like an desperate escape from experiencing life the way it is. Seems to be a strugle of refusing assuming experience called human life and joining another experience of denial, refusal, detachment, rejection. All above is part of range of more or less desperate approaches to life. Acceptance is not part of it.

Tracked him till 15:50... after which he seems to have lost it for a bit. Physical universe is created the way for its sustenance. Sexual reproduction, eating food etc. are necessary for sustenance of the body, but the soul that believes the physical world is the only truth lives in sin... because he is missing the truth.

Church Father's were clear on chastity versus lust. There was not a single puritan before Luther. Sex is glorious in the first millennium of Christianity, Catholic Christianity. Read the theology of the body, by Pope John Paul 2, if you want to know what the Catholic Church really teaches about sex.

Isn't a sense of something being evil subjective? Another way to consider your point is of what is preferable: go through with a pregnancy and be burdened with financial instability and a worse quality of life rather than having avoided such a fate by means of birth control. I think we should first take the individual's situation into account as being a greater moral imperative than the institutionalized guilt the church has ingrained into the collective consciousness.

Not so sure about this. Freud also got people thinking more about sex. And in American culture, the feminist movement and magazines like Cosmopolitan got people feeling they needed a certain amount of orgasms to be content, not to mention the effect of the Playboy myth influenced by Hugh Hefner etc
