Thanks for these encouraging words today. I loved the anagram of the word "Depression". Re Liz Curtis Higgs: I've been a fan of hers for many years, since hearing her speak at a Ladies' Spring Fling event here in Columbia. I listen to her every Monday morning for a short devotion. This year's theme and focus is "Peace".

I've yet to find my name on a keychain, mug, bookmark or other item at a store that sells those "personalized" gifts and souvenirs, but I absolutely know that my Father knows my name and has it inscribed on His palm (Isaiah 49:16).

I had a professor in graduate school who, after suffering a heart attack that he felt was partly precipitated by personal stress, gave up wearing his wristwatch. He said he would leave home with adequate travel time to get to his destination, but if there was a traffic slow-down, or an unexpected delay, he did not want to be constantly looking at his watch and fretting over being late. He wanted to be present in the moment, not worrying about the future---his words echoed some of Christ's words (whether he was aware of that or not). I've not forgotten his explanation about being without a watch (of course, his watch only told time--it didn't give him email, text, and internet access 🙂).

One of my favorite quotes is from Benjamin Franklin in Poor Richard's Almanack: "Human felicity is produced not so much by great pieces of good fortune that seldom happen, as by little advantages that occur every day." The little seeds, the small opportunities--they matter!

Welcome, Autumn! Pumpkin dominates now, but I am eager to see cranberry items in the next couple of months. Re today's verse, a quote from Samuel Johnson that is on a small card I keep posted near my desk is "Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance."

"Intentional" is the word that spoke to me this morning from your video. In a class I was teaching this week that focused on listening skills, we used the word intentional several times. Looking and listening for opportunities to share our faith, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is important.
