They said in Hebrew, "yes but you need to have the will to convert" They didn't understood the English fully. Anyone can become Jewish (by religion not ethnicity) Only thing is that the Rabbi/Religious figure you might go to in order to convert, will question you and try to make you stick to your own fait, simply because its more difficult to practice Judaism.

What ethnicity? Judaism is a religion. Ethnicity is common descendents which can be shown with DNA. While jews do have a common anciently it's the same marker that shows up in inbreeding or they have no genetic markers at all
