Imo what makes the Michigan and Ohio state rivalry the best is the fact that it started before the football teams even played the first time. 1836 the rivalry between the states of Michigan and Ohio began after the conclusion of the Toledo war and carried over to the football teams. That’s almost 200 years of hate. No other rivalry can claim history like that

An rivalry should be either with Main college and its Tech or state college to make then make an rivalry between Another College main school and it’s rival state and do the same with its State and Tech schools Like Michigan State should have a rivalry with Ohio U since Michigan gets their claws on Ohio State

Could very well see Mizzou filling that OKST role. A heated rivalry for sure but five years from now it’s gonna be pretty one sided. Mizzou fans will talk now so keep that attitude when you’re a guaranteed win to us in the schedule.

As an MSU fan from East Lansing, I don't think the Spartans/Trojans rivalry could take off. I might be speaking for other people here, but fans from Michigan really value geography and history and a forced rivalry with a California team has no chance of being accepted by most of the fans

Surprised the 4 corners schools weren't talked about more. Could see BYU & Arizona State considering Arizona State is somewhat of a party school & BYU isnt. I think BYU-Colorado has potential as well with Deion coaching Colorado rn it seems like BYU would probably hate Colorado. Texas Tech used to be in the same conference as Arizona & ASU from the 30s-50s so it seems pretty reasonable that at least one of those schools has a rivalry with Texas Tech (my guess would be Arizona). In terms of ACC i would say maybe a Stanford-Duke considering they pride themselves in being 2 of the best private schools in the US & I think Duke might have problems with there being a bigger private school in the conference than them but that's me grasping at straws lol

As a Cincinnati student, we definitely have a lot of beef with UCF, and that is definitely a rivalry. I hope something will spark with WVU, but I think it would start with basketball over football. Another school to watch out for us would be Iowa State

UCF vs Cincy rivalry is some from back in the American Athletic Conference. UH played against them a lot too.

I think the UCF/Cincinnati is talking about a rivalry because they were both of the non power 5 schools that got strongly considered for playoff spots 5 or so years ago. Cincinnati got in. UCF didn’t despite back to back undefeated seasons… that’s my guess why UCF fans hate Cincinnati.

Oregon Ohio State next big rivalry

Tennessee and Texas. Both claim "UT" both wear orange and white, and as someone else pointed out Tennessee got their "Volunteers" name from Tennesseeans volunteering to fight at the Alamo alongside Texans. Seems like a rivalry made in heaven. As a Tennessee fan i can take it or leave it. We've had to play Bama and UGA every year for a long time now and I'm not exactly looking to add difficulty to an already brutal yearly schedule. Plus Tennessees rivalry slate is pretty full as it is. We got Bama, the in state Vandy, the border battle with UK, and the bitter hatred for UF.

Oklahoma State vs Texas Tech will become a rivalry simply because the two schools don't really have anyone else to beef with.

As a UCF student, i think UCF and Cincinnati are pretty much rivalries. Its mostly been between fans online but both schools do have history of being the 2 best teams from the AAC. Plus many entertaining battles between each other. UCF is also trying to make a rival out of WVU because the 3 schools are located in the eastern time zone, playing them for homecoming, and we play them in every sport including Mens Soccer which is in the Sun Belt. The only other game that is sort of a rival war was Houston with the space race, being both from the AAC, and being on rivalry weekend last year. But it certainly doesn’t contain the same spark as Cincinnati.

Texas & Tennessee, only because they both get called UT and are easily the biggest brands that use the UT, as well as similar colors, the fact thay Tennesseans went to Texas to fight in the Alamo, hence the Volunteer name, etc. Just a personal favorite what if rivalry

Last years razorback team was another one... lot of close losses on a team whose defense improved tremendously and one of the best offenses in the country just collapsed.. to many quitters, off the field issues, poor coaching decisions, bad OC hire.

Definitely some bias, but 2014 was the best year of the CFP First off, what was supposed to be #5 Ohio State makes the playoffs as the 4 seed and wins it Mississippi St as the #1 team in the CFP poll was hilarious Cardale whipping Wisconsin 59-0, Bama 42-35, and Oregon 42-28 as the 3rd string ALL IN A ROW And last but not least, the nerves that were given to college football fans while watching these games, trying to figure out who would make the CFP, and being utterly disappointed when their team didn’t make it, and the joy from Alabama, Oregon, FSU, and Ohio State fans when they say they were in
