Ive barley ever missed hook sets, and have never yanked my rod like that. Never, not even for gar, i mean come on.

I'm the same way. No need to rip a hole in the fishes mouth with an extreme hook set.

@hatfieldcustomrods your right, deforming the fishes mouth is a no no, and I've seen people yank the so hard they just slam into the side of the boat.

Only time I set the hook hard and no where near that hard is either shark fishing or tarpon fishing
