Thanks for making this kind of video, it was a very interesting watch! What I've taken from this is that we have the ability and freedom and potential to create but that it feels that, in general, people aren't really "creating". People re-tread the same ground and repeat the same mistakes (with the example of StarCraft II and Stormgate, not familiar with either personally). And that even comparably higher-budget productions make this mistake, whereas comparatively lower-budget productions can do more - But not always, as your pointed out indie KZbin series' aren't even taking advantage of that freedom. I take the more cynical and pessimistic view that a lot of this comes down to people doing things for money rather than to create something interesting or new or unique. Instead of creating something great and having success follow, things are played too safe at best. There could be a lot of wider issues for why that is. With your example of The Yogscast, that Shadow of Israphel continuation never came, and that's really sad. And further with the Minecraft "challenge" videos, they're comparatively easy and safe to make and at least as an outsider seem to rake in views. Maybe it's easier to follow a template and create something safe rather than to do more than that. Not necessarily in terms of it being easier but in terms of it being more reliable that people will watch it -- Or, more to the point when it comes to social media, get it recommended to them. Maybe back when The Yogscast and others were making their KZbin skits and Let's Plays with characters and semi-scripted elements sprinkled in, because things were much less complicated there was more freedom than they have now. For traditional TV, given how trigger-happy networks are with cancelling shows, the creative element or the "soul" as you put it ultimately comes second. It's not necessarily about being afraid to invest either, I'm sure Disney pour money into anything with "Star Wars" on it, but it's probably a lack of confidence in the idea of making something a bit different. A network might not greenlight a show, or an indie studio might scale back or change course out of fear. Things become formulaic, I think even trailers are a great example; the same blend of the same music, cuts, etc. And it reflects often in the final product. To put it a bit crudely: Why spend thousands of hours making a redstone contraption in Minecraft when you could make a cookie-cutter "I spent 100 days in Minecraft Hardcore and THIS happened" which would probably get exponentially more views. The obvious answer to me is, because creating should be fun and stimulating. But maybe that's not as viable these days where we're all seemingly vying for views. Going back to games, I have noticed a lot of *descriptions* (like, on the Steam Store page) will say "This game is like X and Y and Z" or "From the director/creator/writer/blah oh X/Y/Z". You can be proud of and wear your inspiration on your sleeve for sure but it doesn't always have to be explicitly stated, it comes across to me like they were afraid of their audience not having a reference frame, when sometimes that's okay. Undertale wears its influences pretty well on its sleeve in my opinion, but the store page does not make any reference to Mother and similar RPGs. So maybe it comes down to people not believing in their ideas enough, and there being more risk nowadays compared to "yesteryear". It could be a direct thing or they could have subtly convinced themselves that people don't want something that strays too far. If I was in that position I don't know if I could believe in my own ideas either to be totally fair! You mention you want to be inspirational, I did consider based on yours and other fumo videos of making similar kinds of videos (maybe on another channel). I might still one day to it too. So if you have almost-inspired me I'm sure others have been too (although I get that you probably didn't directly mean influenced only to make skit videos with toys, my other somewhat-creative outlet is probably programming). Maybe I gave too much of a rant of a reply but your video was very interesting and wanted to share my own thoughts. I largely agree that there's a lot of "unrealized" creativity so-to-speak despite it being possible to do so, and that I myself am guilty of it too. I think it comes down to wanting success but without the risk that comes with believing in your ideas. That risk might've been lower in the past, such as on "earlier" KZbin (the early 2010s time) and with networks/game studios/etc being more willing to take risks. Hopefully that wasn't six paragraphs of nonsense 😅

@@sonic2kk yeah, thanks for your rant. I agree with you 100%. I haven't noticed the "based on x/from the creators of y" thing, but yeah, now it's painful to see. I'm not even sure really what the point of it is. Like, if this game/movie is based on x, why not just play/watch x? The one situation I can think of is when the original material isn't really available anymore. I actually got a good example of this. I just found out this other new RTS game called Tempest Rising just released a free demo yesterday (you should try it while it's available, it closes on the 22). The game plays exactly like the old command and conquer games, and I think it's fair for them to do that because EA completely screwed over the franchise, and the last 'good' game came out like 15 years ago. And I think you got something about people being too afraid to realize their projects. I wonder often if the problem is that we're too free and have too much power, because when you have practically unlimited power to do anything, suddenly you're powerless because it becomes impossible to choose where to start.

Fun fact in touhou wiki Youkai's confirmed that They actually deliver Dead humans or either blood for remilia and Flandre to consume per week for their blood supply Reason: *remilia is a dumb ass and gone through a rampage in gensokyo murderering anything in her path until Youkai's outnumbered her* After that incident She comply over the agreedment for hundreds of years not killing anything by her desire. However what's your thoughts guys, do you think remilia is Stupid or Smart.

I was not aware of that, but in my touhou world I've taken a few artistic liberties to make things make sense and (like you've seen, there are two sakuyas. I did that because Sakuya's age is depicted rather inconsistently across games. This is true according to the wiki as well) so I don't think it would work out anyway. In my head, since vampires live for so long, that probably means their metabolism is very slow, and so they don't require _that_ much blood all the time. Then Miss Sakuya (yellow bow/mama Sakuya) goes and collects some from the human village once a month. I didn't think about using dead bodies for food though. I was just going to have it be that the human village's population was big enough that Miss Sakuya could just kidnap somebody once a month without anyone noticing 😳

@lotgc

@@AlgaeNymph I actually came up with a couple different reasons for why they couldn't drink patchouli's blood. The first was that Patchouli achieved immortality through Taoist Alchemy, which if you don't know, involves a lot of mercury and other very nasty substances, so they shouldn't drink her blood, if she still even has any at all, unless they want to die a slow and painful death. I didn't like this one because I thought it was pretty obscure and most people wouldn't get it. The second was that due to Patchouli's poor health, they couldn't safely extract any blood from her. I didn't like this one because it's kinda generic, and yuyuko is in the same boat but even worse, so it wouldn't make sense. Then I came up with patchouli's affinity for demonic domination. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure in most cultures and religions, interacting with demons at all is a big no-no, so Patchouli having a 'little demon' (小悪魔, ko-akuma, or since Patchouli is Korean in my world, 소악마 so-angma) it's kinda an alarming thing to see.
