My grandma used to have us kids bring in a bucket of snow and clean them that way in the house. They dried pretty fast and smelled so fresh. In the other seasons she would beat them on the clothesline. Sprinkling baking soda on rugs and letting it absorb for 15 minutes before vacuuming also refreshes and helps remove pet hair. Shaking your silk or fake plants in a garbage bag or pillowcase with clean white fine sand also removes the dust. Just ideas for people in the warmer climates.

Patric, thanks for the information! That was interesting and funny to watch on the mini rug! So… I need to know how wet will the rug be from about 30 minutes in the snow? 😊 Snowing here now. I’ll probably just have a glass of wine by the fire and enjoy the beauty ❤.

@lorill2631 it is not very damp at all, because it is freezing. If it gets really damp, just let it dry a few minutes before putting it back!

Hi Patric, I have a question regarding using a ball of aluminum foil in the dryer instead of dryer sheets to help with static. I have been doing that, but there is still so much static in my clothes, I mean static where I’m actually getting shocks when removing the clothes from the dryer, and when I pull the clothes away from each other when folding. It is winter in the Midwest, but I’m considering going back to dryer sheets as my clothes are also clinging to me when wearing … any suggestions?

Thatbusally means they are overdry. Since the air is so dry, yiu usually need to shorten the dry time

My daughter got a pair of pink Uggs for Christmas. I did spray them with a waterproof spray (only one layer and I hoped they were covered enough). However, she wore them to school today (first day back after break) to show them off, but it had snowed and was slushy and probably salty. Now the very tips of them are darkened. What do you recommend to try to restore them?

I have a question for you. I have hard water, and no softener, how much washing soda should I use? I have not been using it, but since I have been using your products, I can’t tell you how much better all my clothes are! I also bought your book and the “kits” that you had during Christmas, as gifts, and have totally had two of my friends switch, and they are so happy. So thanks from all of us!

How to get Lansinoh lanolin breastfeeding balm out of clothes? It’s been there like four years on a pair of pyjamas! I don’t wear them because of it but they were expensive and are good quality so I never tossed them. I did try dish soap once but it didn’t work.

Happy New Year! Thank you for your enthusiasm and for sharing your knowledge with the world! You have helped me enjoy laundry and cleaning! My sister and I have a funny story that happened in early 2024 that still makes us laugh. We were sitting with my Mom, who was wearing a white blouse. I noticed something on her blouse and asked with enthusiasm and a smile, "Is that a STAIN?!" I guess I was excited that I could challenge myself to remove it without harming the blouse. Your content, books, advice, and personal stories have inspired me! Thank you!

Before washing, buy a correct formula of wool spray protection product, DO NOT USE AN UPHOLSTERY PROTECTION SPRAY, ONLY CLOTHING MATERIALS PROTECTION SPRAY!!! (If soiled, use isopropyl alcohol to clean spot first! If you use a dry cleaning spot remover, you could end up making irreversible spot rings) Then Afterwards, please allow to dry for at least 24 hours. To wash: place on cold setting only, not tap cold, and must use an accurately tailored mesh zip up washing machine protecting bag; (one that fully holds jacket in place while washing garment) when cycle is finished, take out from washer and protection bag, lay flat and hand iron into structure of jackets’ perfect shape. If you air dry it, there is the possibility of it forming into a peculiar shape that may be almost impossible to restructure back. You have to keep a vigilant eye on it throughout drying time, this is to keep it from hardening or slightly shrinking up on you. Once it’s basically dry, you now have the opportunity to hang it to finish drying. Please make sure your hands are 100% sanitized, you will destroy it if your hands have any oils or dirty substances on them. Do not use any kind of “good smelling” products throughout procedure, your wool will absorb it and then turn it into an off putting mutation smell that won’t be pleasant. Afterwards, if it’s still a bit stiff, just manipulate it till it’s back soft and supple once again. Do not be alarmed when it’s initially wet, it’ll more than likely smell like a wet animal and probably manifest some panic and apprehension. It will work, the only thing you can’t do with dry clean only items is forget to use cold water only, and make the accidental mistake of putting in dryer, that’s when the horrifying puckering occurs! 😱😳😰😭 Otherwise, if you follow those steps, you won’t have any problems, it’s scary! And I guarantee the whole time you’ll be cursing me, saying: omg! She’s wrong 😨, but I promise you…it will work 🤗🤩
