I make a point to openly laugh at those prices. They get upset, but they are the clowns. The fact they get upset proves they know the prices are BS.

K98, you mean that common over priced over weight basic bolt gun. Get a M-48 for $350. Don't waste your time. Type 56 SKS is way more accurate than a Yugo M-59, fun to shoot, cheep to shoot, best milsurp ever. 303 Martini, nah, shoot a 577x450 MH totally worth it. M1 Garand awesome, but little pricey.

A lot of these guns actually have tollerable prices. Not great, but tollerable. Also the 2A1 isnt a Lee-Enfield. Its a Ishapore, which is a Indian Lee-Enfield knock off in 7.62 that were produced sometime after WWII. The Bayonet is probably in good shape because it was made for it.

I’ve got a Russian TIGR SVD that I converted. I put a 24” barrel and adjustable gas regulator on it. I switch back and forth from wood to polymer furniture because can’t make my mind up which one looks best 😅. Also have a 1909 Springfield 1903 hoffer Thompson trainer that it 100% original that’s in excellent condition. Most were converted in WW1 to 30-06, very few around that survived.

I don’t think you quite understand what a grail gun is. You also confuse production numbers and availability/survival rate. At any big auction house you have a handful of Johnson’s throughout the year. Dozens and dozens of type 14 nambus as well per auction or on gunbroker, etc.

That is crazy. SKS was so cheap they were almost free and you could get ammo by the case. I bought an unissued sks for under 200 and a whole case of ammo when they first got popular. Shot it till I got bored and made a profit selling it. Now i shoot an AR. And a 9mm. Days of cheap foreign stuff are over.

The Japanese Arsenals had piles of Rejected Stock Blanks that had Issues . Many Cracked or Warped during Production. Your Rifle is one from the Last Year or Less of the War… with Salvaged Pieces cut from the Rejected Stocks to make a Substitute Standard Last Ditch Stock. American Factories saved theirs too just in Case. Many wound up firing Factory Boilers Post War or sold as Sporter Stocks. In Oxford , Maine where Model 1917 Enfield Stocks were made in Two World Wars, Employees cut them up for Firewood for their Stoves… or used them in the Garden for Tomato Stakes. They had around 20,000 Rejected Stocks.

I went to RTI and read their descriptions. In the low priced "B" and "C" grade rifles they do not mention the bore condition and the rifles are visibly rough in the few pictures. In the ungraded and higher priced rifles the bore is listed as "poor to fair" and in one (what we assume is an "A" grade rifle based on price) it specifically states the rifling is non-existent. I once passed on a $99 Steyr with sharp distinct rifling and tight action, these are wall hangers or lamp grade from what I can tell. I personally do not need a $349 (and up) wall hanger. On the other hand if you want a Mannlicher action and have the skills to be-build the action, and re-chamber and re-barrel it, there may be some life left in the actions on the better "grade" rifles IMHO.
