@@mesi9674 Great question! I did a Silk Press on her, so the curls wouldn’t set that fast on flat ironed hair. She had gotten her hair done for “Back to School” & since she was a long time client, I let her have the flex rods. But she slept in them so that she could have curls the next day for the 1st day of School. 🤎

If you’ve been to Cosmetology School & have hours, you would need to contact your School and/or the State Board of Cosmetology in your State that you live in, they should be able to provide information for you regarding whatever questions you may have regarding that. My video is for those who want to obtain their license without going to Cosmetology School. Also, I’m not sure what State you reside in, but there are several States that don’t require a license at all, so you can also inquire of your State Board of Cosmetology about that too. I would recommend that you check with your Hair Stylist who’s familiar with your hair, which should be able to answer that for you. I would have required a Consultation to answer your questions but I’ve retired now but your Stylist should be able to assist you & answer your questions. 😃

I personally think that Stylists benefit greatly when they work in a Commission Salon, it gives the Stylist an opportunity to: learn, grow & have help from a business owner and be mentored all while they have the opportunity to build up their own clientele all while not having to pay a weekly booth rental.

I’ve personally been in the Hair Industry over 30 years, so I already knew that Stylists retire a lot due to: pain in the physical body, problems with legs from standing long periods of time, varicose veins, stress/anxiety, as well as fluctuating income. I did not know that a lot of younger Stylists are retiring due to the above reasons, as well as a lot stating that they aren’t making the consistent income that they hoped to make due to not being booked & busy etc. Sources were: discussions with Product Distributors who sell professional branded products to licensed Stylists, my own personal knowledge, as well as my own research & online research etc. My surprise was that some younger Stylists are retiring and/or going into Corporate America or other job sectors & leaving the Hair Industry at a younger age.
