Been using Onedrive for years, the inability to scale storage and purchase additional storage has pushed us to Dropbox. Makes me furious how Microsoft doesnt provide an option to add storage.

I'm thinking about this from a Microsoft Exchange point of view. It's possible that Microsoft Exchange on prem will offer higher performance and lower costs compared to Exchange Online but I think the benefits stop there. For businesses that don't have the IT staff to manage on prem servers, it makes sense to have the Cloud provider look after the reliability and security of the service.

Im going to Dropbox. I have all my files on OneDrive. I had to reformat my computer and now I need to download the files. OneDrive download speeds are running at 600-800 KB/s. At this rate, it will take a year to get my files. No thank you OneDrive.

Interesting. I'm currently going through this right now, having to decide. But it might be an easier decision for us, because we have a ton of customer info and documents that need to be stored. But we also have employees with iPads out in the field that need access to that information, they need to be able to read and write the files, especially remotely. Would an on-premise server be able to handle that? Btw right now we are using iCloud and the accompanying apps. Thanks for the time.

dropbox is faster, more streamlined, looks better, and has better OS integration. one drive is cheaper, comes with office suite, but it hates certain file names and will refuse to sync them. Dropbox doesn't care what you name your files.
