Hi Tony...i m rajesh, 52, from India my daughter recommended Medium as i recently started writing out of oblivion. I am not an ardent reader let alone writing before Medium. So i think i would like to stick with Medium as life and living after COVID has gone haywire making livelihood very very difficult to meet. Thanks

Hi. What happens when you become a member of medium? Or how exactly do you earn any income with medium? Or do you have to join the partner program? How does it work?

I recently started writing on Medium. Watching this video makes me feel proud to be a part of this community of writers and readers. I had an inkling, but I didn't know just how human-centric their business philosophy is. There has been a lawless competition over human attention, which has been heavily commodified, and some of the results have been just atrocious. I hope companies like Medium stick to their philosophy and succeed, so that there could be more platforms like this.

I loved Medium’s take on “time well spent” on the internet, especially these days when most things seem frivolous. But I'm still waiting for the Partner program here in Brazil, which makes me consider alternatives like Substack.

10:33 "If you're a writer...you start to pick up these marketing skills, but I don't think these marketing skills should be required for everyone. It shouldn't be required to build your own mailing list...to learn SEO... to build a social media following... a lot of times the people with a great story to impart are too busy living to learn those marketing skills." This. That was why I started working on the Follower To Follower series (to connect people with other writers, even if it proved to be far too much for me to keep up and attracted some not so great practices), and what we have all been struggling with here. Writers have always been historically bad at promoting their work. That's why publishers existed. I'm very glad that Medium- as a publisher AND social media platform- has recognized that truly great writing needs a helping hand to stand out. And while I can admit that series wasn't the answer, I was merely a tiny fish in the ocean here trying to do what I thought would work in the microcosm of Medium. It makes me feel very hopeful for the future to hear you say all these things... and a little sad I wasn't able to attend Medium day in retrospect. Also, you're spot on about publications. The whole idea is to not be alone in this vast sea of Medium-ness. I see Medium as a community of my peers to help encourage me, that I can encourage as well. We grow together. I wish I understood better how to grow a publication myself- I'd love to see resources for those of us with struggling publications to understand better what we're doing right, wrong, and what others have done behind the scenes that helped them grow the community they have today. That's something perhaps for the future, as I can agree with your current focus as being the best starting points. In a way, I feel like Medium and I have been learning a lot of the same lessons this last year. Medium got there a bit ahead of me, but I feel we've all ended up in the same place. It was good to hear that you have the same humanness that we do, and are confident enough to stand up and say "we were wrong, and this is how we are making things right." And you're right. I think you're going the right direction- even if it doesn't reflect in my personal numbers, the core values FEEL monumentally correct. I have no doubt that if I continue improving along those same values, that my personal graphs will reflect the same trend as yours one day. And even if they don't, it still feels good to write on a platform that shares the same core values I do. So thank you for this, and for all your consideration over the last year. See you in the fourth quarter. 😉🤗

Your question, "Why do we do profit shares with our authors?" at the time stamp 29:54 is a good way to explain the writing experience on the platform. It is like having a writing career where we can build and grow our portfolio. It is not a writing job that becomes a grind where we end up becoming coffee grounds. At timestamp 31:30 "Part VI A Turn Around Story," gives confidence that the future looks brighter. .

Re: importance/ efficacy of mask wearing, as well as other 'measures'. Could the speakers comment on the fact that Florida with hardly any restrictions to the best of my knowledge fared at least as well as California, where masks and restrictions were very much adhered to. Thank you

The problem with banning opinions is that you just remove them from view, and from public discourse. They still exist, but now in places where they can thrive because they won't be scrutinized, discouraged, debunked, watched, etc.

My friend got Covid months ago. He decided to get the vaccine. Guess what he now has Covid a second time. The vaccine does not work. I had Covid 2021. I’m not vaccinated and I was back at the gym running and lifting weights 10 days later. Or my middle-age friends got Covid and we all survived it home without any medical intervention. We took herbal supplements and vitamins. We will not comply we will not take any vaccine.
