Lucky you! I love going to Poland but it gets quite expensive when you have to pay for 4 tickets from Canada... You probably can fly super cheap around Europe! Let us know what your favourite zapiekanki spot in the city is, we will check it out next time we're there! Any recommendations for a nice meal or drink are highly appreciated ;) Have an amazing time in Poland and enjoy zapiekanki!!! Ps. That's very cool re. Belg. What years did you work there, you may have run into my wife Kasia who used to go there with her friends a lot before moving to Canada :)
@airmidalchemist523418 күн бұрын
@@TheHungryTata thanks for your reply! For the last flight Katowice - Eindhoven I paid about 130€ 😉 "Piekarnik" where you have been is a really good place, my fav zapiekanka is "Marysia Panienka" because I like spinach and feta cheese 😁 To be honest you both visited the best places in the centre, you can also check "Yem Tu" if you like Hindi food, "Tayri" where there are pizzas with creative and rich toppings, like fries for example 🍟 or "Bonsai Sushi" the best sushi I ever ate and beautiful served 🤩 In Częstochowa you can find more world kitchen than typical Polish, except pierogi 🥟 they are everywhere. In "Cafe Belg" I worked about 2016 year. You both have great time in Poland!
@TheHungryTata18 күн бұрын
Thanks for all the recommendations, we are so going to check them all out next time we are in Poland (hopefully next summer!). I want to eat as much Polish food in Poland as possible but I’m really excited about the sushi place! 2016 - Kasia was already in Canada but we always end up in Cafe Belg whenever we meet with Kasia’s friends :) we used to go to Poland once or even twice a year before the kids so our paths most probably crossed in the past :) 130€ sounds way better than paying around 1.5-2k CAD $ for one return ticket (our case) 🤪

@Andy-wu1ev21 күн бұрын
Been there a few times, I would say that is middle of the road fair which gives the benchmark of any road trip in Poland and should be encouraged, a rather depressing reality is the new highways in Poland offer just KFC and co, such places as these seem to become fewer and fewer, that's progress or so I am told.
@TheHungryTata19 күн бұрын
You'll have to take me to your favorite one next time I fly in, but as I recall it was somewhere near the boarder in the north near Germany? American fast food = "Progress" I'd rather a home cooked Polish meal over that any day, especially if it's Basia cooking!❤️😋

I was born and grew up in Warsaw but now I live in NYC. I think I was once in Czestochowa because I remember wide road leading to Jasna Gora. Looks like Poland is a modern country by now.
@TheHungryTata19 күн бұрын
You remember correct, there is a long wide road that leads up to Jasna Gora, it's a nice walk to the cathedral, we take the kids there whenever were in town. We live in Toronto so it'll be a while till get back there. Yeah, it seems Poland is becoming more and more modern since I first came to visit 12 years ago. They are building highways like crazy so it doesn't take forever to get to another city, like Wroclaw for example.

Thank you, I actually cooked professionally for about 7 years in my 20’s here in Canada. It’s a very tough job and not an ideal profession if you want to have a family and be present. I haven’t seen many olive oils in a flip top bottle either. The oil itself was pretty decent quality to be honest!

Cestohova is one of the first Polish settlements established in Texas. The settlement was founded by Silesians from the Opole area in the mid-19th century. The descendants of the first settlers live there to this day. Some of these people know single Polish words and have Polish surnames.

When was the film made? It looks like it was just after or before Christmas. I think the building you show in the film at 1.33 is the museum. I have even been inside myself as my wife, many years ago, used to work inside it. If you want to try it out, I can also recommend the zapiekanka just outside of the entrance to Jasna Gora, it does a nice zapiekanka for around 12 zloties and there is at least somewhere to sit! I like zapiekanka myself, the only trouble is getting my lips and fingers all dirty with nowhere then to wash them! Another nice zapiekanka is from a kiosk behind the railway station but the area is filthy and you are expected to share the zapiekanka with half the pigeon population of Czestochowa! Had you just passed the museum and turned right, you could have met an American from Texas as he runs an English Language school called Base just one or two blocks down on the lefthand side.
@TheHungryTataАй бұрын
Yes, we stayed in Poland for 2 months around Christmas time :) I have never been inside Ratusz (the building you're referring to) but now I want to check it out next time we go to visit Kasia's family. And I will definitely check out zapiekanka near Jasna Gora, thanks for recommending. It sounds like it's one of these traditional kiosks and I like the sound of 12 zl ;) I know the area behind the railway station, I think I even had French fries there during my first trips to Poland. I don't remember sharing them with half the pigeon population of Czestochowa though :D Good to know about fellow English speakers in the city. Whenever we come to Poland our base is a small village near Czestochowa where Kasia is from and as much as I love the village life and Polish people, it can get lonely at times with the language barrier. Thanks for taking your time to comment and recommend all of it, I really appreciate it!
