Hippocampus is the lower curved part. Amygdala is the rounded spherical part at the end of each hippocampus.

The cleft is the actual space between the axon terminal and the cell that's being communicated with. The synapse includes the presynaptic axon terminal and the postsynaptic dendrites of another neuron or motor end plate of a muscle
