nothing more exciting than a striper blowup love it. In NC the striper don't surface until right before dusk you are a lucky man getting them in broad sunlight on top

It’s hard to beat the excitement of those big blowups. When conditions and water flow is right the hottest part of the day can be best here.

I was out that same morning in Wagoner county. Used the sound of the rain to my advantage and stalked. Was able to shoot 2 does within 10 minutes.

Awesome! Was you on the Public land? I use to hunt around there a lot back in the day. Mostly Camp Gruber and Cherokee now. I always enjoy stalking deer in the rain.

There a lot of people that hunt Oklahoma wma’s? I plan on trying Spavinaw never hunted Oklahoma before.
@shrumbrothersoutdoors14 күн бұрын
It’s kinda hit or miss depending on what public grounds you are at.. in my experience the public grounds within 45 minutes of Tulsa or around lakes seem to get hard.. Spavinaw is a great place, especially if you are bow hunting the GMA area which is archery only except for a couple controlled draw hunts. I don’t really know about the WMA side but the GMA side doesn’t get crowded.

I am wondering how do you anchor the boat? How deep is the water there and what kind of anchor you use?
@shrumbrothersoutdoors2 ай бұрын
I just tie up to the cable line when striper fishing. When the water is running it’s aboig 4 to 8 feet depending where you are at on the cable line.
@bigjack59742 ай бұрын
How fast were you trolling? What size jig head are you using?
@shrumbrothersoutdoors2 ай бұрын
I was using crankbaits and I like to troll between 1.5 to 1.7 usually. Earlier in the prespawn I like trolling two 1/16 jigs heads with plastics or minnow and I like to troll them between .7 to 1.0 depending on water temps.

@shrumbrothersoutdoors4 ай бұрын
It is the Alijoz 400. It does have a little whine when trying to really get some distance with a heavier bait, but nothing too bad. I have always kinda liked the zing of a bait caster. I picked up my first one about 4 weeks ago and liked it so much that I bought another. I have always been a big Abu guy, but really been liking the Piscfun reels last couple of years. Besides the excessive whine, how are you liking it?

@shrumbrothersoutdoors4 ай бұрын
I like braid on my crappie rods for the sensitive bite, but never been a big fan of braid myself. If it ever gets tangled for any reason I have a hard time getting it undone. Do you prefer braid over mono?
