All good, if you put a hose clamp on the flexi pipe it stops fluid coming out and air from getting in.

IE is one of the tuners I was considering, but they unfortunately don't offer e85 tunes nor custom tunes. Still a solid option up through Stage 2+ and if someone was lucky enough to get a black friday sale in november, with the cable, stage 2 pro tunes were a little over 500 bucks. One thing to correct on your info, you can't use all of the speedometer without serious HP. A stock C5 corvette reaches it's limits in the 170mph range and that's with 350hp and much better aerodynamics than our Golfs. The k04 maxed out won't even come close to getting you to the end of your speedo.

Doing this on my '12 GLI, only thing different is that there is no hardline to remove, it is all 1-piece soft line to the caliper, making it even easier. Thanks for this.

Doing my 2012 golf r timing belt right now; how do you know exactly how tight to set the tensioner?

Hey Evan! The three bolts that bolt on the serpentine belt tensioner at 23nm. The bolt for the timing belt tensioner is 25nm, the idler that goes on the cylinder head is 25nm and bottom idler is 35nm. When I did it I just tightened the bolt up to 25nm and then pulled the lever that tightens it up with a flat head screw driver. Make sure the little lever lines up with the notch in the tensioner. Top tip, remove engine cover when motor is hot, the rubber grommets are more pliable then. Otherwise it's SUPER difficult to remove on cold engine

Even when the car is hot, it can sometimes be hard for me. Definitely try and take it off when it’s hot. Great too from Tim😁

Hey there have mk6 gti e35 with CDL engine, had timing belt replaced a couple of years back and current tech tells me these have a chain and a belt, is that correct ?

If I’m not mistaken, the Golf R like my car has a timing BELT. The MK6 Golf GTI has a timing CHAIN. Both have a serpentine belt/accessory belt. Maybe that is the belt he is referring to?

I have a CDLF EA113 engine and your mechanic is correct. There is a timing BELT for the crank and the camshafts, then at the other end of the camshafts there is a CHAIN that links the intake cam and the exhaust cam.

Thanks for the video. Helpful info. Just bought a MK6 2012 like yours that has 223k on the original belt! 😰 The first owners of it had it always serviced at the dealer, and when I asked the dealer about the maintenance records after I acquired it from them they said it has a timing chain not a belt so it was never done. Needless to say it is parked till the kit gets here to do the job.

@@P3Gauges Miles. I later found out that it was done once at ~80k miles so 143k miles on the belt I just changed. One of the rollers was sized. Did a video to add to @Risky Garage's work kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6XTaGh_odB-fdE. Thanks again @Risky Garage for the info!
