I really enjoy your videos. They are so relaxing to listen to (and I know AYBS really well). I really wish you’d do a series of videos for ‘That’s My Boy’ with Mollie Sugden.

You made mention of the actress Gillian Lewis, who played the second Miss Belman. She didn't do a lot of TV work, but you might remember her as Drusilla Lamb, (love the name), from the "Mr. Rose" TV series, which was probably her biggest role, episode wise.

I did some thorough research on why school books had to be wallpapered back in the day. It was not to make the books last longer. It was because the teachers back then were uneducated morons. Great video by the way. My favourite episode of Steptoe and Son.

In your recent podcast, you mention actress Gillian Lewis with regards to The Mind of J G Reeder. She had a fairly prominent role in Season 1 of the TV series Mr. Rose from 1967, which is a very enjoyable series if you haven't seen it. I'm on Season 2 at the mo', which is alright, but Gillian isn't in it, and the setting has moved from a village cottage environment to a flat in, I'm guessing, London.

You're quite right, of course! We do have 'Mr Rose', but it's been ages since we've watched an episode! Slightly kicking ourselves for having forgotten about her role in it, but glad you've mentioned it here!

@@RoundTheArchives I think she had a little more to get her teeth into in Mr. Rose than J G Reeder. Pity she left after Season 1, (Mr. Rose), as her character built up quite a rapport with the two other main characters. Apparently, her character got married, hence her going missing from Season 2 onwards.

Good question... She doesn't seem to get an onscreen credit; presumably it would be in the paperwork for the completed programme, but sadly we don't have access to such things... sorry we can't help... 🙂

Benny Hill's film director sums it up Henry McGee says you switching from colour film to black and white is showing the change of mood for the characters Benny's reply no no it's because we ran out of money and black and white is cheaper Sums up the art of ambition Vs practicality 👍

I'm still debating with myself if I want the boxset or not, but think I'm falling more on the side of wanting it (good to see how big the boxset is btw, so thanks for showing it). I love the idea of it being like watching a fever dream! As you say it's really sad that there are so many episodes missing and that it makes the plots quite patchy but I imagine it would still be fun to watch. Sadly with no surviving soundtracks for the missing episode there will be no animated recreations of episodes!
@RoundTheArchives

It seems like a big expense, but is more than worth for everything you get on it. And we're loving watching it, definitely binge worthy. Just wish we knew more about the history and missing episodes.
@MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis
@MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis Жыл бұрын
@@RoundTheArchives Honestly, I was surprised it wasn't more expensive for the amount of episodes you actually get. There is definitely a book or at least a website to be made on synopsises for the missing episodes, or at least overviews of missing plots etc.
