You should break off the end of the retainer piece. This is noted in the assembly instructions from Neutrik.

in order for the plug to screw in all the way, I break off a piece of plastic on the retainer. it fixes cables less than 5 mm, and when it is broken, it fixes up to 7 mm.

Any idea why in my Planet Waves guitar cable the white wire is schortcutted with the the shielding wire? I shortcutted the red and white wire like in this video and mounted new Neutrik plugs. Result: weak sound. Resistance measured from plug to plug is 1.2 and 1.6 Ohm.

Because you followed a crap video ..... He makes a guitar cable out of a microphone cable I would connect the white to the ground so that you have kind of a phantom ground .I would not increase the core size of the hot wire... it only creates more capacitance therefore you lose the high-end.

Ciao, non ho capito come calcolare la giusta altezza della corda nel capotasto. Schiacciando la corda nel terzo tasto la corda deve essere a contatto con il primo fret o deve esserci un po' di spazio tra corda e fret? Bei video.

How many times can a guitars fingerboard be re-fretted before you need to get a new neck?
@randoshus3762
@randoshus3762 5 жыл бұрын
As many as you want I reckon...If the wood chips....you might replace the neck...
@AllThingsMech
@AllThingsMech 3 жыл бұрын
If you're careful when pulling the old frets out and don't chip up the fingerboard too badly, you can get away with several refrets before the slots get sloppy. Even if you chip them up, as long as the damage isn't too severe some sawdust from the existing fretboard mixed with a little superglue makes a very convincing chip filler, especially on darker wood (rosewood, mahogany, etc).

If you heated the frets with a soldering iron you would have had far less chip out and saved time gluing chips or superglue and rosewood dust to fill them. Rosewood is bad for chipping as can be seen here.

rosewood is extremely flammable. if you put a soldering on on the frets you risk lighting the fretboard and burning down your house or apartment.
@MrSongwriter2

@@dd61125 absolute nonsense. You are adding heat to the fret for around 10 seconds not the wood. Not using a blow torch

i thought the heat would expand the metal in the wood and make the removal harder?
@MrSongwriter2
@MrSongwriter2 2 жыл бұрын
@@nedalhubhub1851 nope as it breaks down any glue in the slot and does reduce the chipout. In fairness you are heating the fret enough to melt glue only and by the time you have taken the soldering iron off, put it in its stand, got the chip protector in place and start with the fret pliers, it’s already cooling
