I was hoping someone would upload this - I was there but too far back to get a good look at Lou. Thanks for uploading.

After watching the video, I can see why Lou fell madly in love with Laurie. She speaks so eloquently, so truthful and with beauty in her words and her voice. What a great love they shared.

This is one of the most beautiful speeches I have ever seen delivered. What a eulogy. Great love. Thankyou so much Jim, for putting this up. 5 years later and it still has the power to touch people, with truth and that rare something called grace. Vale Lou Reed.

I'm sorry, but what do you mean by that? I'm familiar with the concept, but I don't see how it applies. Are you saying such lives do not matter? Are you ignorant of the Republican alleged leader who said there were good Nazis?

For those who criticize Paul Simon here: how people can be so mean? You have no heart or what? Paul and Lou were very good friends. Now there is a man, almost in tears, who tries to sing to honor the memory of his friend! Paul Simon played a very good and emotional version of Lou Reed's beautiful song.

Do not look at the video from August Greig below, listen to the original. Self promoting moron. This is a wonderfully sincere and respectful story and performance by Paul Simon. I listen to Lou every Sunday, to ground me. To remember my roots, and bring me back. I suggest everyone do the same.

That folk style guitar playing on this song really sucks and it ruins the song. I know it's hard to play this correctly and sing it at the same timej, and that rits even harder to play on an acoustic, but come on this guy is a professional. I can play this on acoustic guitar solo and all, and in fact there's a video of me doing it as proof. And i had very little time to prepare.

Really? You're criticizing a performance at the Lou Reed memorial? How much more of a scumbag could you possibly be? This is magnificent - have some fucking respect for the dead, asshole.

This is Paul Simon playing Lou Reed, who cares about you doing this song "right"?? Fuck you
@joe225896 жыл бұрын
What a douchebag you are! Critizising Paul Simon`s guitar technique on a Lou Reed memorial event! That proves that stupidity has no frontiers. And praising your own version proves that there are people so full of themselves - and then there is another who suceeded to be much more full of himself. You arrogant idiot: take a life!

After some internet sleuthing, I believe this is Tammy Faye Starlite (Nico impersonator extraordinaire) performing in her show entitled "Chelsea Mädchen," at the Duplex Cabaret Theater in Greenwich Village, NYC, in June 2011 (see Robert Christgau's review for MSN Music, dated June 9, 2011, at www.robertchristgau.com/xg/music/starlite-11.php for corroboration).

As a gay man I really love to hear these stories. Conservatives have done everything possible to erase our very existence, so it's wonderful for our forbears to flesh out our very important histories! We must make sure we are never erased again.

I've been educating myself on US structure fires, and this is the only one that gave grisly details and horrific pictures to the public. the victims were almost treated less than human. and the arsonist wasn't charged even though he admitted his guilt.
