Favourite yarn this year has been malabrigo worsted! It’s super soft merino wool with just the right about of fuzz and the subtle variety in thickness/hue gives a nice dimension to the piece. Also it has a really beautiful drape and all of the colours are gorgeous

I’m sensitive to wool yarns too and my favorite yarn of 2024 was Hjertegarn 120 Extrafine Merino😍 It’s sooooo soft and warm, and wears great!

I am also a relatively sensitive person and some of these are not the same for me. I am VERY sensitive to alpaca so the brushed alpaca is itch city to me but the drops Alaska I find to be just a semi-dry feeling wool - not at all itchy. Happy to have more recommendations tho

Do you know of a plain fitted cami pattern? like flat on the top but loosely fits around your body? I want to duplicate stitch over some flower patterns but can not find a good pattern for my lifeee

Ok so I made a garment entirely out of sirdar cashmere merino silk and found that it's still pretty itchy. It sounds like I may have a slightly higher tolerance to itch than you, but I still find it fairly uncomfortable.

It’s pronounced mo-ahl bo-ahl. What a great experience! Island hopping in El Nido is so much fun. Although, snorkeling and seeing jellyfish swimming around you is scary (even if they don’t have the poisonous tentacles). I especially loved the underground river in Puerto Princesa. So glad you enjoyed your trip! I’ve been a couple times with my family, but I bet it’s so much fun to be around other young people! Siargao had a really cool vibe.

Oh my gosh, you are so beautiful! I crochet and knit, so ofc this was on my FYP. But after seeing you, I just felt I needed to comment to tell you that my first thought after seeing this video was how BEAUTIFUL you are; just in case you wanted or needed to hear it. Especially your smile! It's absolutely contagious! And I mean this girl to girl just spreading positivity. And ofc I'll also like the video 😊

i thought i was the only crazy person that decided to try drops fabel in a garment. i feel the same way. its very prickly, but i can wear it with a shirt under. it's not as itchy for me, but around my neck i can REALLY feel it. and 100000000000000% on brushed alpaca. im so happy i found a fuzzy yarn that doesnt itch like mohair.

as someone who is also very sensitive to yarns and cares deeply about using ethical and sustainable yarn from non abusive farms, my favourite yarn is definitely Knitting for Olive, i've only used their fingering weight merino and silk mohair but they are so soft and lovely and i've never had any allergic reactions or ithciness using them! plus i love knowing the fibers i am wearing are from happy healthy animals and not ones who are mutilated or abused.

I really like Kremke the merry merino, it's one of the softest yarns I have tried and they have a very pretty color selection! It does grow a bit when blocking, but nothing too crazy. The brand also has good sustainabilty and animal welfare practices. Unfortunately its not the cheapest, but I personally think its worth it for such a nice yarn.

My favorite yarn for this year was Illimani’s Santi yarn. I also have very sensitive skin and I used it in a beanie and it is sooooo comfortable. It’s a blend of ultra fine merino, baby alpaca, yak, and mulberry silk. I consider it to be on the pricier side, but for smaller items that are going to be worn next to the skin, I would consider it well worth it.

Drops Daisy ! 100% DK merino wool, extremely soft, cheap, with a beautiful color selection. I used the natural color paired with matching Brushed Alpaca silk for a big chunky scarf and it's the softest, cosiest thing ever. I'm now planning to knit a Terrazzo sweater in caramel and a Daydreamer cardigan with either the crimson red or the light purple color (both paired with kid-silk but BAS would work just fine)

A word of warning re. drops daisy - at least in my experience this yarn does not wear well. I made a beautiful colourwork jumper in this about a year ago now, and I have to de-pill it every time I want to wear it. Large areas that experience higher friction (e.g. underarms) are completely felted. It is such a shame as I love the piece, but I will not work with this yarn again as it just isn't going to leave me with a long-lasting garment!

I used DROPS Daisy to knit the Louvre Sweater and the Oslo Hat by PetiteKnit this year and I thought it was reeeeeeally soft, it doesn't bother me one bit, even when the turtleneck is next to skin. The only downside is that it's so soft that I feel like because of it it's a bit too delicate and pills more than I would like to, as I've worn the sweater about 15 times and it has some pilling under the arms and in high friction areas, and overall it looks a bit fuzzy with wear. But for having paid 2,75€/50g I won't complain too much. Also, the color range is amazing. I wouldn't particularly say that I have very sensitive skin, but I definetely notice that some wooly fabrics irritate my skin a little bit. For reference, I have used DROPS Fabel to knit socks with no issues, but perhaps it would be on the edge of feeling comfortable in other areas, if that helps :)

I have a rec for you!! 💕Recently I was looking for a skirt pattern and found the Bitchin' Skirt by Dani Ruiz, it’s a self drafted pattern and really easy to knit up actually :) you can make it in any yarn you want, and the construction and instructions are easy to follow and understand 🤩 I made it in a white cotton yarn held with a golden sparkly yarn, it turned into a beautiful glittery but chic skirt :) she also explains what yarn weight to use for different effects and so on 🫶 Currently I’m thinking of making a matching top as well to have a nice set for going out 🤩

Hey! Would you have a list of the yarn shops in Glasgow ( or Glasgow area) you liked can't seem to find any where there's some nice yarn.... 1. I suggest putting a little X of contrast yarn in the back of your knits instead of a tag so you can tell which side is the back. This has been a game changer for me 😂 2. Your wool and the gang sweater is probably itchy on your elbows because elbows tend to be the driest skin on arms (even if they don’t feel dry) which is sensitizing. Wonder if a dab of lotion would make the itch go away when you wear it with a tee shirt?
