As for the dude rattling off about Maggie Walker . He should be doing some brushing up on some reality about black neighborhoods during that era . Like for example prohibition meant bootleggers and the policy racket , meaning gambling was lucrative for black people . Let's not overly romanticize the era . Watch any movie or even documentary about black life in the most affluent early 20th century and you will find that under belly that sustained black people . Today both alcohol and gambling are legal , yet the black people like the gentleman who was the creator of Jack Daniels and the successful policy gambling racket ran by black weren't afforded the luxury to partake in either industry to a point of generating wealth . These are sadly a group of delusional black people that aren't doing a damn thing to step up to the plate and offer anything equal to something that would surpass that development . After the November 2023 election , not a dam word from them about doing anything to help the people in that district who by the way Voted Yes. Not a dam penny of costing tax payers . Yet the uppity sides of the little got free reigns to weigh in on what they think is best for the people in the district . Those No Vote Campaign crew live in neighborhoods that are getting millions of city subsidized projects that haven't done anything to bring the table that would be in the multi millions to support the schools , child care , and non profits .

Black faces being backed by the mostly white wealthy establishment in Richmond Va to have built the propaganda campaign against the Casino Resort project development . The bullshiggdy about people being exploited by gambling is ridiculous . Alcohol is at the top 3 among the most addictive habits. It's legal with rules to district to adult use . Gambling is at the bottom of the top ten and the real reason for it even making that ranking is due to online gambling . So that bullshiggdy argument won't fly . It's a dam shame how none these people in the video are showing their face of stepping out and leading any real major efforts to do a dam thing the move the needle for real economic empowerment. The election is over and all that rhetoric about the development being about gambling ignore the fact that it would bring 1300 jobs, a major entertainment complex and massive boost to African American businesses in Richmond, VA. I live in the proposed area for the casino and I’m all for it. I haven’t heard one reasonable perspective on why we should vote no. Most of what I’ve heard are scare tactics and fear mongering. I voted during the last election and a guy outside of the polling building said “we don’t need a casino because single mothers are more likely to leave their kids in the car to go gamble”..my counter to that is/was single moms are much more likely to leave their kids in a car because they can’t afford adequate child care to even go to work. That scenario exists WITHOUT the casino. So again, why should we vote no? And, how else do the no voters suggest or propose we bring more revenue into the local community? Because the area has been struggling and overlooked for the past 3 decades.

THis is very disingenuous. 1st, Francessca is going to have to validate her localness. Is she from RIchmond, or Henrico/Chesterfield. She sounds like she is from Hanover. Which explains in the beginning, she was not at the proposed sight of the casino. Then her on the street interviews were all in and near the VCU campus. Yes I know my city well and can tell where you were standing. So, while I'm not the biggest proponent for this, I despise people not from RIchmond trying to determine what happens in RIchmond, regardless to where you rest your head.
