You should get a bottle of Arc Guard . That helps prevent splatter from sticking.

Always run a bit of 2 stroke oil in your mix of gas. This is a tried and true method of keeping the fuel system rust and varnish free. The oil is beneficial to your valve guides and rings as well. Just a quick thought, I've never been let down. Also keeps diaphragms soft as well! Even if the gasoline completely evaporates.

Good video. Use Marvel Mystery Oil in your gas. It cleans and lubricates the combustion chamber and valves. It prevents corrosion in the combustion chamber, valves, and fuel system, even when it sits for years. I've been using it since 1967 when my grandfather tsught me about it. Back problems are a b*tch. Baby your back like you do your WH or it will haunt you. Good Luck, Rick

You need to find yourself a nice little old lathe for your shop. Could have just turned down that clutch tool.

Had a 69 I believe. Gave to me, had the deck, all in tack. Had to helicoil the spark hole. It was a 12. Had a rod knock. I wished I had known you then. Would have given it to you. Trans was good all gears were good. Don't know what happened to it.

My opinion on painting is as follows: If you just do a mechanical 'fix up' then leave it. When you do all you have done to make it 'as new' mechanically, I feel like it should get a full dress paint job as well. Just my thoughts.

Tool question: You have a lb/ft torque wrench that goes as low as 19 lb/ft ? Normally for anything in that range I switch to an in/lb torque wrench and set that to 229 in/lbs instead of 19 lb/ft. as my lb/ft torque wrench only goes down to 30 lb/ft.

Do you know where gears can be found for the 5003. I just bought a RJ to today. Plan on tearing transmission apart. It was full of water and locked up.

You're doing very well but, I seem to recall two problems that I encountered in the late 1960s. The float was overweight. I had to buy a small scale to check the weight. The other thing was that even the castiron bodies warped. I had to flatten the top using a surface plate and a 360 sand paper. It was warped. The little straight edge can miss a lot. Keep on going. Its all a learning adventure. Good Luck, Rick

I'm building my lawnmower that I named Sgt. Trash because it is a mixture of a craftsman 1996-97 and a 2012 cub cadet with a live axle for a drift cart with a predator 420cc engine from harbor freight. I work outside in a tent building made from 2 9x16 tractor supply "carport" put together in a L shape. It is like having a building but it is removable when I need to not need up anymore.

Nice progress. I went to the Brooklyn Fairgrounds in Brooklyn, CT today for the Swap Meet. Usually there are less than 100 dealers. Today there were over 300. I only got about 1/3 of the way through it. I'm going back tomorrow but it will probably only have under 100 dealers. I am under the impression that you are in CT. Good Luck, Rick
