Congrats on finishing Life’s a Beach! 🥳 I think I would vote for the lantern kit, probably because I’ve already stitched the ship one! I probably show that in my old finish parade, too. We definitely have similar taste. 😁

Oh my goodness I must have forgotten about the ship one in your video. It was a gift awhile back and I ended up starting it this past week. I think I'm going to start the lantern one in May if I can finally finish Christmas Elf Fairy by then.

It’s good to see you again! I’m behind on Flosstube, so I’ll probably go watch your more recent video next. My mom was cleaning out her craft room and actually found the magazine that Life’s A Beach was in! It’s a Leisure Arts magazine from August 1988 and this project is on the cover. 😍😎🏖️ Also, if you’re interested in tips for using waste canvas, I made a tutorial a few years ago. 👍🏻 Oh, and thanks for the book recommendations!

Thanks for sharing your WIPs. It’s nice to see that you currently only have 12 projects that you’re stitching. I used to pride myself in the fact that I only had 9 WIPs but unfortunately, that number has grown. I’m participating in 2 mystery SALs now so I try to keep up and when I see patterns that appeal to me, I feel like starting them. So I probably have closer to 20 WIPs currently from barely started to almost completed. I hope to get some finishes soon. 😊 Happy stitching.

Life’s a Beach is looking great! I agree with you about thicker evenweaves - I prefer them to more flimsy ones like Lugana. Some MCG is uneven, so I would whip out my travel measuring tape in the store to make sure a piece was okay before buying it. Monaco is also a great thick evenweave, although that seems harder to find these days, too. And sometimes there is heavily starched Monaco in craft stores that’s different than the soft Monaco that I’ve found elsewhere. I’m glad you found another piece of Jubilee - looks like a nice color!

Thank you so much!! I think Lugana was the first evenweave I tried and so it put me off them for a bit. And thanks for the tip on Monaco, I don't think I've tried that one yet but I'll see if I can track down a piece.

I live in SC, but in Hartsville about 1 1/2 hours from Myrtle Beach. I miss Stitch and Frame, which was my LNS after 2 other shops closed over the years. Currently, my LNS is Barefoot Needlearts at Myrtle Beach, but maybe Stitching Kitten because it is only an hour away and no beach traffic. Have a good time on vacation!

Great start on Christmas Elf Fairy! Yeah, her called for dress colors seemed a little odd to me - not the precise shading you usually find in Miras because of the variegations. Yours turned out really nice, though! 😍

I love your May plans! I have Christmas Elf Fairy pencilled in to try to finish in July - maybe you could work on yours again then. She seemed to stitch up really quickly the last time I worked on her. 😍 And so fun that you’re going to be stitching those bears! That’s a blast from the past! I probably stitched mine in junior high or high school! 😆 Mine was on Aida cuz that’s the easiest fabric to find in the 90s, so definitely doable. If you haven’t already chosen a fabric, I would recommend pulling the threads and laying them out on the fabrics. That might help you make the final decision. 😁

Stitchin’ Mommy does have a video on Wisper thread. I’m a Mirabilia fan big time. Just found your video. I have been collecting Mirabilia patterns since they were first charted back in the 90’s. Haven’t finished any yet but I have several started. So many I want to stitch on. I have several of the OOP charts. I like Nora Corbett and Lavender and Lace also.

Whisper thread isn’t too bad! Where ever you need the whisper stitch a full cross with one strand of white. And then come back over that with one strand of whisper and do one leg of the X. You could do a 5 x 5 test square in the corner of your fabric to see how you like the coverage, before you stitch it on the actual design. Then after you have the whole design stitched you take a new soft bristle tooth brush across the whisper to fluff it up.

15:05 I would price shop and see what would work for your budget. I’m in the same boat. The timing is off on my singer and keeps breaking my needles but I hate to toss it when it can be fixed and potentially have years left. However, my advantage is that my 13yo daughter has her own sewing machine so we can share until I can get mine fixed.

The feed dogs can be lowered(dis-engaged) on sewing machines so you can do free motion quilting, so that might be what is happening with your machine. Google how to lower feed dogs on the model machine you have and it should show you where the lever is to raise them up again. Maybe that will work. Good luck!

Congrats on finishing His Name is Jesus! It turned out great! Regarding Dimensions kits, I think you’re right that the regular ones are a bit “tamer” than the Gold ones, so they could be a good starting point. However, the petite ones you have shouldn’t be too tricky until you get to the details at the end. Just make sure you take note of the number of strands and any blends, etc. before stitching. And cording isn’t as scary as it seems! You tape the long lengths to a table with your needle in the middle of the length and twist for a long time, fold it in half, and it turns into cording! It’s pretty cool! You tack it down with one strand of matching thread every little bit (which is what couching is).
