Early UAVs were caught in nets. Fly it right into a Walmart Badminton net! Who needs landing gear and wheels
@warbuzzard71676 күн бұрын
Unless your bird has landing gear, your going to prang that thing into the dirt unless you do one of those “butterfly with sore feet” landings.

You Sir are correct. My first landing in grass looked like a javelin stuck in the ground. I have since moved it to the side. Thanks for the tip though.

What did you do with the old power distribution pannel in the bottom? (The one for the motors. I forgot it's name). I am looking at making a setup with the normal SB405 Wing.

I simply removed it. Made my connections direct to the flight control. Makes for a cleaner setup.

A power bank or OTG cable from my phone has been my go-to solution for the same thing. Cool tip, though, and it can double as a phone charger :-)
@mindrev11 күн бұрын
I was using a powerbank for the same purpose. The problem is that the plugs have finite insertions so I tend to use a fan with a battery. Also I have plastic caps on UBS's so it is an extra hassle. Also some new controllers can stop the power to vtx completely with a switch.
@burdfamfpv11 күн бұрын
Cool tip my friend i guess if u use a 3.3 volt pad or a 5 volt pad u can do the same as well.., I have yet to put a gps on one of my quads but I plan on doin it on my next build...thanks for the tip 🫡 subscribed
@Clickmaster5k11 күн бұрын
There are a few options for this. They make RC switches that you can add to remotely turn off the VTX. Many FC include this sort of FC powerdown option nowdays too. Id look for this option on future builds. For existing aircraft that dont have a vtx power option you can use a USB fan also as an alternative. These included with your method are all good things to keep in the toolbox!
@Stubbino12 күн бұрын
Even if you're only powering the FC over USB, the VTX is still transmitting. If you want to keep your VTX cool, just put Pit Mode on a switch.
@Livinglifeat6012 күн бұрын
Not on my quad, The usb only powers the fc and gps. You need to connect your battery to power the Avatar video tx.
@GhostRyderFPV11 күн бұрын
Typically that's not the case. Perhaps on a tiny whoop, or something that would use a little 5V VTx? But anything that would fly with 4-6 cell would have isolated power rails for VTx's that don't feed off a 5V USB input.

I got this same one a month ago, bought the PEI plate right away and printed a spool holder that uses bearings that I just happened to already have. The filament is never taut so its pulls smoothly.

The trick with the heatshrink over the connectors would not work for too well for me for plugging into the flight controllers as the increase in thickness would make it a really difficult if not impossible.

I bought a spot weld unit and it just doesn’t seem to put a permanent/strong weld to the tin strip onto the 18650 so I have resorted to scratching the terminal up really good and soldering 18 or 16 gauge silicone wire
@Livinglifeat603 ай бұрын
I used a small wire brush on the terminals before welding. Maybe try turning up the power on your welder. I use 3 spots per cell.

I use a USB powerbank to power the flight controller in order to obtain GPS 3D by powering the GPS on a 4V5 pad and the VTX on a regular 5V pad that isn't powered by USB. So I wait till I'm ready to fly when notified by the INAV LUA script on my radio. But yeah I do use a fan when building and or testing video.

I did a pretty decent first flight with mine it was fun but I realized the terrain where I fly and anywhere near me is the struggle with this plane, I ordered up a vtol kit to make it more versatile, I didn’t have too much trouble landing it but I see it lasting much longer and seeing way more use as a vtol in my situation

Don't buy this FC it's crap, I had rx uart problems, servo outputs went bad after five minutes on the bench while testing servos. I moved the servo output to S6 from S4 and got the servo working again but then the motor output on S2 went bad. Believe me, I pulled the servos and ESC all working fine with a servo tester. I even swapped the ESCs on the header pins S1 & S2 the problem just moved from not running the right motor to the left motor. Total Garbage!

@SilverbackSasquatch19xx4 ай бұрын
Oh no! Im so sorry you fell through! I am glad you seem to be doing okay, I silicone conformal coated everything in my t1 just in case of rain but an event like this will also justify the decision, the thing that really sucks here is fpv is a chance to do crazy stuff without risking your body, sometimes it gets us anyways!

What saved me is that I am an avid sea kayaker. I have a lot of practice getting into a kayak when it flips over. I was also wearing thermal clothing under my jacket and pants which helped a lot. I knew as I was walking out that this was a dumb idea, but I wanted to fly. I could have died today and am lucky to be alive. As for the plane I repaired it when I got home and the video system came back to life. I'll do a lot of tests before flying it again.
