Lots of excellent footage and still shots. I could do without the music except maybe at the beginning and end. Would like to have heard more sounds of nature....

The tree with all the shoes is not the garbage tree, it's name is The Shoe Tree. It was started as a place for all the people that walked the Cape Scott trail to leave their shoes.
@stucrabe95122 ай бұрын
I get the concept of why people do it and that's fine, but if you drive past it every day, it gets a bit old. At the end of the day, it's garbage.

Wow, I can actualy say I have wanted to try and paddle up this park since the day it was mapped. Silly point but I was in the helicopter the day it was layed out. At the time I think the higher ups had this area on their radar as a park option. A local logging company was pulling out of the adjacent area. But there was this one last stand of high value Fir running up the to the hight of land bordering the now park. The government at the time was just starting a push on new parks so the logging might pose an issue for the new park, but there was no park yet, better establish one fast. One helicopter out of Campbell River, Park rep front left seat with a map, my job today was the interface guy for the government, Forest Service, need to see what Parks rep sees so sitting rear left, and two company reps in the rear center and right seats. So this happens fast, when the chopper reachs the opposite shore from the river mouth we stop and just look at the whole area and identify the point on the opposite shore that is not logged and has a defined ridgeline, put an X on the map and start flying the ridge up, the Parks rep and myself confiring on the new pencil boundary. The whole park was layed out in about 1/2 hour, including the resolution to the logging question. AS we hit the ridge of contention we take the time to look at the intended harvesting of a very steep rock canyon running to the ridge, stunning trees, and listen to the company cry not to leave this behind and of course the Parks guy has no concerns, time for my job, which is point out what the company is trying to do. You require a 1 1/2 tree length snag falling outside a block to work within the block. So I knew the Park rep will say no falling snags in the park, I and the company know try to move the boudary away from the boundary on such steep terrain means they loose half the trees and any viability of havesting, they bit their tounges and sat quietly as we finished the boundary exercise. So it is great to see what I thought would be a good paddle/hike.

Thanks for all of that. That's quite interesting to get some of the history how it became a park. I hope myself that I get back up there again one day. There's just so much to do and so little time to do it all.

Epic Vid Stu! You really captured the essence of a special place. Always amazing running into great people in beautiful and unique areas. Max and I ended up completing the full circumnavigation in 31 days. The Brooks Peninsula was definitely a highlight, nowhere else like it. We spent a while chatting about how to come back and get that ring you left at Doom Mountain
