I do have macular degeneration and I only have vision in one eye my question is where do you get support? You know if you need someone to talk to cause I feel so disconnected from the rest of the world.. 7:07

Of all our 5 senses losing our vision is probably the most devastating. In my case my family’s support has been the most important. But there are many sites that may be of help for you. A search on the internet could be helpful. My retina socialist even mentioned the Braille institute. She said they have support for low vision problems not just blind. I also suscribe the The Blind Life on KZbin. The person who runs the site suffers from a condition very similar to AMD and has a lot of reviews on web sites, gadgets and more to help suffers life a pretty normal life. He’s very upbeat and understands the things we go through.i also uploaded a video on special glasses to help me drive and read. You may want to check that out on my channel. I’m going on five years now with injections in both eyes. It’s not fun. But, you have to do what you can to keep what vision you have. I hope this helps a little bit.

That you for explaining this. I was just diagnosed.with wet AMD in my left eye. So far my right eye is healthy. I got 3 shots so far, 4 weeks apart. I fur for my forth one next week, which was 6 weeks from my last one. I do notice an improvement and the doctor told me there was some improvement. I changed my diet and I’m taking special vitamins. I’m only 74 years old, but my Grandmother and my aunt and uncle had it too. I’m keeping a positive attitude and will continue to get my shots

When I was diagnosed with AMD 5yrs ago I was told there's no cure for it? So I researched it and found if you do Eye Exercises regularly like daily and use Eye Nutrients can slow AMDs progress. So I've been exercising and taking Eye nutrients and my AMD has slowed or even stopped. I do have eye floaters but I'll settle for them over AMD. I see well today.

Thank you for sharing your journey, so far. I, too watched my mother become legally blind from AMD and genetic testing proved it was a great risk for me. I now have wet AMD in both eyes, but the shots are keeping me incredibly stable. I am 82 and grateful there is help for us and only wish my mother had been so fortunate. Blessings to you, and please keep us updated!❤

It looks like you an me have the same circumstances. I fear for my children as well. Keep well and take the AREDS 2. I believe the right combination of the vitamins do help as well.

@@lwellsnyc awww so sorry to hear of your mom. I didn’t know about ADM I kept telling my optician it feels like I want to rub my eye. I had cataract surgery in both eyes, it was wonderful to see again without wearing contacts lenses, then this happened. I was shocked. I’ve had my third injection. It’s getting much better. I have it in my left eye. I’m 72 . Thanks for showing interest. I’ll keep you updated & you do the same x

I'm 77. On May 13, 2024, I did what, for me, was 30 minutes of unusually intense exercise with 15 pound dumbbells and other weights. A couple of hours later, I noticed that the light stand next to my TV appeared wavy when I looked at it with my left eye. I downloaded the Amsler Grid and printed it out. It looked wavy and distorted. The next day, as I expected, my small town optometrist diagnosed me with wet macular degeneration. The photo she took of my macula looked red, swollen, and bloody. I couldn't get an appointment with a retina specialist (in a city 40 miles away) until three weeks later. By then, in a new photo, my macula looked somewhat swollen but not red. I got the Avastin shot. Since then my vision has gradually improved. I've looked at several videos of patients describing their symptoms. You're the first one to describe a problem similar to mine: I have of competition between my good eye and my diseased eye (which also happens to be my dominant eye)--the diseased eye sees objects as distorted but also as somewhat bigger. If that alteration in perception is now permanent, I'm wondering whether a change in my glasses prescription could at least help deal with my aniseikonia--the imbalance in magnification between my eyes (though, of course, there's no way to "correct" other distortions). I'm going to ask about that at my next appointment July 3. In the meantime, I've ordered a Kindle that can read aloud throuugh a bluetooth speaker. I haven't been able to get used to reading with only one eye, though I'm still hopeful that, with a little more improvement, I can read printed pages again without too much frustration. (I am able to read the computer screen I'm typing on, though with some discomfort. I believe my parents had some form of macular degeneration. I started taking lutein a while back in the hope that it would help prevent the onset. Even after I had cataract surgery in 2019, my night vision seemed to continue to be declining, but I never tried to test whether one eye was more affected than the other. Though a dilated eye exam by my optometrist in March didn't find anything of concern, I suspect the problem with my left macula was already there, just waiting for me to do something to raise the pressure and cause it to bleed. According to some sources, ultraviolet light can damage the macula, making it more susceptible to degeneration. I wish I had worn sunglasses before. I'm wearing them now.

@@officialsheildmaiden6181 They’re called Alred’s 2, it’s a formula only recommended for AMD. The trouble is that not all makes are the same. It’s good to do your research 1-determine the correct amounts of the main ingredients that are recommended. Then heck the labels of the multitude of manufacturers. It seems the the most expensive are not always the best. Also, check with you specialist and see what they recommend.

It’s like any strange illness. When you have it you hear about it more and more. Take care of your eyes. When you lose vision it make things more difficult. I have hearing loss as well but im can use hearing aids that really help. But with vision loss there’s not a lot that can improve it.

I make cold start yogurt from a mix of whole milk and half and half-it's oh-so-creamy. Cold start yoghurt works as long as you use ultra-pasteurized milk. No hassle with cooling the milk down. :)

My ophthalmologist told m about 15 years ago that I was beinning to show signs of having Macular degeneration. So this is what I did: I stated eating a lot of Dino kale along with about 2 teaspoons of spiralina powder per day. Next time I saw my ophthalmologist, he said I had no sign of macular degeneration and to this day I still don't. By the way, the brand of my spiralina is produced by Nutrex of Hawaii. Don't trust any other brand, some coming from abroad.

I'm glad that this is working for you, too. I am a 72 yr. old woman who has dry macular generation. It went straight to WET very fast. Caught it early, too. Presently, I am blind in the left eye and have 20/20 vision in my right. Both are WET AMD The only vice I have is aging. Started with Vabysmo injection at the onset. It is aggressive, but still have 20/20 in right eye. Thank goodness!!! I live alone with 2 cats and this terrifies me. Loneliness is NOW the least of my problems. Family has deceased. But thank God! I have good friends in my congregation and a few darn good neighbors. "Hard-pressed in every way, but not cramped beyond movement:........but not absolutely with no way out." 2 Cor. 4:8 💔💖 June

Hello, Sir. I hope you are well I saw your KZbin channel and Very nice video on your channel, and I really enjoyed it. Total 70 subscribers and a Total of 34 Uploaded videos of your channel. I noticed one thing according to your channel your channel videos are not viewed and subscribed. You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will get viral views. If your channel is optimized a little and if the videos are SEO then your channel will grow and rank very fast and your channel will grow. and monetization of your channel will be on. I can help you grow your youtube channel if you want
