Cows will always drink warm water before they will drink cold water ( underground pumped water ) . They often have bad teeth .......... would you put cold water in your mouth with bad teeth ?

Why are you using black pipe? White would be much cooler
@lsquaredranch5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately we can’t find white pipe in that kind of bulk. This black pipe is cheap, durable and available to buy in rolls of 2000+ feet at a time
@JimHerman-o3q5 ай бұрын
First of all the water would not get that warm from the pipe....its buries in the grass protecting if from direct sunlight. Second... cows love warm water over cold water. When milking cows the water coming off of the cooler to cool the milk........the cows would always drink that water first before going to standard pump water from the ground. Cows often have bad teeth.....imagine cold water in the mouth compared to warm water.

Why do you get it hot then cool it down?
@lsquaredranch5 ай бұрын
The sun gets it hot! It’s nearly a mile of black pipe laying over the ground, and we have to be careful what time of day we pump that far. We’ve had it over 55°c on a hot day before. The real solution is to bury it, but then we can’t move it later, and this one happens to be on rented land so we don’t want to install permanent infrastructure
@KennethLayne5 ай бұрын
@@lsquaredranch i got ya!! I thought you pumped it through the black pipe to get it hot on purpose. Is it because you have a hard time getting a light colored pipe that you use black?

If you unroll in a spiral rather than a linear row, the animals can stay tightly bunched, sharing body heat. The weaker animals stay in the inner part where its warmer, while the more robust ones stay on the perimeter where there's less competition and act as natural wind breaks. Also, the manure load and "waste" hay fertility is distributed in a large swath of pasture rather than a narrow lane.
