The annoying thing about the gh5 is that it reads out the sensor in 10bit linear, hence why it has the V-LOG-L The S-series have 12bit linear readout whicg is the reason for their higher DR, not necessarily because they are fullframe
@TalesOfTam14 күн бұрын
@@shueibdahir that’s really interesting I didn’t know that, I now also have the S5ii so that’s a cool thing to have!

S5II or Sigma FP, bro?
@shueibdahir12 күн бұрын
@@handfuloflight If you want to have full control of the image processing and the best potential image quality, then the Sigma FP. This comes with the cons of slow turn around time and massive file sizes. The S5II is a better quick turnaround and general use camera.
@handfuloflight12 күн бұрын
@@shueibdahir If you can get a 10 out of a Sigma FP relatively speaking what can you get out of a S5II?
@shueibdahir12 күн бұрын
@@handfuloflight The issue with you question is the fact that both sensors are very similar but the main difference is the s5ii processes everything in camera. You can get 10/10 images from it, but that requires you to nail your exposure, your white balance and everything to do with the image. You have very minimal post-processing flexibility. So you have to understand how you camera processes the image from 12bit linear raw signal to a 10bit log video. You basically control the input so you can expect a good output. The sigma fp gives you much more flexibility, but this also means, that if you're not good at post-processing, your image has a high chance of coming out looking poor. You have control over the input and output unlike the s5ii. It's all about what your skill level is and how much convenience you need out of a camera. I'd reserve the fp for narrative or creative jobs and use the s5ii for everything else

GH5 is still a beast in 2024 and you can find them pre-owned at ridiculous prices! I picked one up a few months ago; like new, with a 47 shutter count for $440 USD.

Just wanted to let you know, you are a proud owner of an incredible piece of gear!
@DennisMeetsWorld15 күн бұрын
@@TalesOfTam I actually switched over to the GH5 from the Sony A6700, which is saying a lot IMO. The biggest thing for me was that the GH5 never overheats when shooting 4K60 continuously, whereas the A6700 literally would overheat and shut off after only recording 4K60 for 25 mins which I think is totally unacceptable for a brand new, $1500 camera.
@TalesOfTam15 күн бұрын
@@DennisMeetsWorld wow that’s really interesting, the a6700 looked really good to me but I suppose if autofocus isn’t needed then the GH5 is incredible

You don't multiply the aperture by 2, only the focal length and depth of field. An f/1.2 lens on MFT will still take in the same amount of light as it would on a FF camera. So yes, if you are talking about the depth of field only, then you can multiply the aperture by 2.

I shoot Canon R3 andR5 for my work purposes.... XT-3 is my daily/street/for fun camera ... and I love it, especially paired with Viltrox 27mm and Fujinon 56mm. Great results for a very decent price. Got mine in perfect condition with a grip for about 700$. Tried xt-5 for almost two weeks and tbh, there is not enough improvement for me to pay 3 times the price. I'm patiently waiting for X-Pro4 while using this amazing camera.

After the xt-3, fuji started messing around with the format. I've an x-t2 which is just fine ( I don't use it for video) and I wouldn't personally bother with an x-t4 or 5. We keep referring to "old cameras"; they're only maybe old when compared to the newer ones! We don't need to make these comparisons if we dont want to. For most of us, any of these camera bodies are more than good enough for us. Nice video
@TalesOfTamАй бұрын
Thank you! I definitely agree, if a picture was beautiful 5 years ago, just because new gear comes out doesn’t mean that picture isn’t beautiful anymore! Everyone is so focused on the latest gear with slightly better auto focus but forget the top of the range cameras a few years ago had all the features that were “actually” needed

I got the 35mm f/1.4 the other day (like..maybe 5 or so days ago) - and I can tell you that lens might never come off my camera except for some freakish thing, like, I dunno. Someone shouts: "Can you please take photos of these birds in that other man's field?" Until then, I'll just keep the 35mm attached. (I'm using the X-T5, but I watch these videos because I think the X-T3 probably could've done the job. I probably overshot.)
@TalesOfTamАй бұрын
This is legit it! The 35mm f1.4 plus X-T3 is basically a 35mm x100 series for me, never needed to take it off because it did everything I needed! At least you’re future proofed aha

I own this camera, very capable and reliable even with the included kit lens. Love it but planning on selling it just because it doesn't suit my needs anymore. Great video though, reminded me of how much I still love it almost made me regret thinking about selling it (Nerding out alert) A word of warning if you're planning to use this for video with F-LOG, set your sharpness and noise reduction to the lowest setting possible (don't be fooled by it saying 0, it goes lower) and set the codec to H.265 (HEVC) for 10 bit. Unfortunately it can only shoot 4:2:0 meaning colour resolution is just a bit ass but for light video work is fine. If you're planning on using this for professional shoots (which I wouldn't recommend) get yourself an hdmi recorder to get 4:2:2.
@TalesOfTamАй бұрын
It’s still such a great camera and the kit lens is quality, the image it produces is still exceptional for its price point in 2024! I actually shoot video on my S5ii and GH5 where those codecs are a bit easier to work with but definitely good to know!
@joshuabaldassarreАй бұрын
@@TalesOfTam that kit lens is really something else, not just image quality but build quality wise it's amazing. I was stunned after upgrading from my previous camera (a canon Eos 100d) had the lightest cheapest kit lens (and lens in general) I think I'd ever felt

Once a bird flew fast and close next to me, I had my Fujifilm X-E1 and the Fujinon XF 35mm f1.4. both supposedly slow to autofocus, but it just nailed it. I see your photos, which are very nice, are mostly from static subjects. Did the camera fail with moving subjects or is your style more for static subjects? It is a honest question because my most modern digital camera ever was a Fujifilm X100S, and in film is a Canon EOS 7 (Elan 7e) so surely my expectations in autofocus are outdated but I can just use those cameras fine.
@TalesOfTamАй бұрын
The X-T3 is definitely an improvement on the X-E1 for autofocus so you’ll see an improvement in tracking moving objects but it won’t compare to a modern Sony camera with a Sony lens. The 35mm f1.4 is not usable for video focus unless you have an external mic due to the sound it makes when focusing too, but for photos it’s very much possible to get moving objects with the right aperture settings, hope that makes sense!

After testing Dehancer I agree, you can get some pretty awesome results and color grades quickly, plus it is actually easy and fun to use. At the same time I am a bit shocked with its pricing point. The pro version currently costs more than a Davinci Resolve studio license which for me is absurd 😭 You get more bang for your buck by upgrading to DR studio and accessing a whole new world of awesome features that will make video editing so much better (including their new Film Creator effect). I would seriously consider purchasing Dehancer only if they ever drop the price of their Pro module to the range of 200$ or less
