A disappointing pandering to capitalists. The boom-bust cycle IS the natural degrowth response to growth. Also here is the irrational exuberance for technology. Technology needs basic research advances. However, significant research advances are becoming harder to come by and the results are getting more abstract to apply. Growth in AI, materials science, biology, etc, we see this happening quickly now, but we are clueless how these things will help the economy, in fact more job destruction is predicted.

Umair Haque did warn the world of econnomy and social science about the crisis we're in today. He was ridiculed and marginalised by those who, now, give lectures about those very crisis. Now it is the old crew, the CEOs of this world, that are picking up those warnings offered long ago by Umair Haque, they are going over those same ideas as if they were theirs... It is shameful many ways.

I watched this 6 years ago thinking "interesting, I'm totally a rebel" and it really helped me to find more interesting ways to motivate myself to do things. I've since been diagnosed with ADHD and I'm wondering how much of the rebel population is also some kind of neurodivergent/executive function issues/etc.

I read about this organisation in one of the textbooks on organisational change - I'm sure it was Laloux's reinventing organisations. Mr De Blok is inspiring and an awesome leader who likes to keep it simple. He is a great collaborator and I wish that many of the leaders in organisations that I have coached would be like him. One day ... One day!

Shame that intergenerational war zone blinds us to cooperation and collaboration in every walk of life. We are surely always better and stronger together than at each other's throats. I've never liked the concept of gratitude and being grateful - I think the stunned silence when Ken referenced it said it all.

It depends on what you define as success, because accumulating more money is succes to one person, but a failed life to another. Also in the south it's closer to warmer climates, while the north is closer to major economies like Germany etc.

I really want to ask you that what is Education to you? I don't know who nominated for Teacher Power school. My children's school is nominated this title. It 's horrible. I feel so fearful to send my child to school every single day. If you nominated the teacher or school. Do the job right. My child was so bright and very outgoing and he lost all from the toxic environment with teachers.

There is no reforming capitalism! It's function is to maintain itself, create monopolies and sacrifice everything else. And the victims of that system are not only humans, but also all other species. All life forms on Earth are dying daily because of the 'global north' and the capitalism.

It's interesting reading some of the comments here from 2011. I suspect that many would now be begging for the Blair / Brown government to come back, given the way in which the subsequent Tory Government has destroyed the UK.
@bbb69515 күн бұрын
Given that many of the problems of the last 13 years stem from New Labour policies, I don't think I'll be asking for those 2 to come back any time soon. Labour and the Tories are 2 halves of a totally corrupt political system, if you think anything will change under a Labour government then you are kidding yourself, just more of the same, more managed decline.
