This is more about launching apps on the Fire TV using specific sequences of button presses that will always open specific apps as it was something that was not possible with the older user interface of Fire TV. I don't know about Apple TV as I don't own one. I believe that Harmony with a hub can control Apple TV. The question is, is there a specific sequence of button presses that will always launch a specific application - i.e. if the aplication is always found in the same place on an 'apps screen' or, in the case of the Fire TV the apps 'row'. If there is then using sequences you should be able to achieve the same result as I did with FireTV.

I wish it had a power button for the tv box. in order to wake up the android box I have to unplug it from the power source and the plug it in again.

Are the buttons squishy and rubbery like on ordinary TV remotes, or are they hard plastic and "click" slightly when pressed?

A bit of both to be honest. they are rubbery but not really squishy like a tv remote. If you press the side of a button it still goes down almost uniformly. The button presses are 'satisfying' if that's the right word. You definitely know you've pressed a key with a very slight 'click' as tactile feedback.

i've done as per your video to connect to netflix, iplayer,iptv and kodi..the iplayer gets to the correct app but stops at a blank screen with a prompt to press 'play,pause' to continue which i cannot access (tried another step with 'play' but didn't do anything?)..the others are tending to stop short ie the app a few places before. do i have to add a delay somewhere?, if so where would you suggest?

I've never seen that kind of message. For the first problem you could try uninstalling iPlayer and re-installing. For the 2nd problem perhaps as a test, edit the sequence adding a 1 second pause in between each step - if that solves the problem perhaps you fireTV is running a little slow with some lag. If you've had it for a while maybe a full reset might be in order. Alternatively, before doing a full reset, go to the settings and installed apps management and delete the cache for your most frequently used apps.

Can you adjust the scroll speed of the touchpad? I noticed on your video and others that it seems pretty slow. So for example, if your pointer is at the top of the screen and you need to go to the bottom, you'd probably have to scroll quite a few times to get there, right?

Yes. You press the Fn key + Spacebar it cycles through 3 scroll speed settings. Here's an extract from my review on my blog: "on the fly you can change the trackpad’s sensitivity between 3 DPI settings. I don't like this model - at all. What no one bothers to tell you is It's designed for lefties The main navi buttons which are normally on the right were moved to the left; very uncomfortable.

Hi how can I get this to light up the keypad? I've tried the light button on the bottom right but a red light just shows up the top left by the blue power button. I've also tried holding Fn & F6 buttons but still no joy.

You have to press the Fn key with the bottom right 'light' button? Maybe try disconnecting the battery for a few mins, putting it back in then connecting to a computer/device and trying again. If it still doesn't work perhaps it's faulty.

Does this only work on the newer version of the Fire TV?

It will only work on a Fire TV device which has the new user interface as seen in the video. At the moment the new interface is on the Fire TV box and "all new" Fire TV Stick (2nd generation) which has been on sale in the USA since last year and is available in the UK from 6th April 2017 - details here: amzn.to/2nRFF3v - I have read that the new user interface is coming to 1st generation Fire TV sticks at some point in the future. It will work with any computer/app/smart TV app that works with a mouse. You don't have to do anything, it just works! If it isn't working then the app/program you are using either does not support mouse input or it is not enabled

Yes! That's one of my little darlings! Scruffy I think it was. My cats often feature in my videos, reviews and blog posts. Sometimes it is planned, sometimes it's not, as was the case in this video!

I doubt it. It is not an infrared remote control. Once your TV is on, if it's a smart TV, you will probably be able use this keyboard with it by plugging the USB dongle into a USB port on your telly.

Ok I was able to my apps in the order I wanted them and Now I have a couple questions: 1.Will this work if you have the Harmony Touch remote 2. Will it work if you don't have the hub because I have the Flirc device plugged in the back of the Fire TV. 3. Is there a way I could email you a picture of my Fire TV Apps and you give me a detailed list of what I need to setup in the Harmony software on my computer

1. I have a Harmony Touch but it is linked to a Hub 2. I would expect so but I have no idea how Flircs work. A quick google for: harmony remote fire tv flirc gave quite a lot of results so that would be a good place to start. 3. Once you have a device added to MyHarmony that will let you control your FireTV then you will be able to set up sequences assigned to screen 'buttons' like on my blog post.

I a question if you do this and the apps move around on the homescreen on the Fire TV 2nd generation and if they update the homescreen move how do you get it to work then

The key is that with the new user interface you can set the order of the apps on the apps row on the FireTV home screen and they stay in the same order until YOU change them. As long as the apps row is always the 3rd row down it will work. Here's how I fixed mine. I used Bison epoxy to fill the hole and screwed the screw from the adapter it came with in the remaining threads (and waited until the epoxy cured, obviously). The trick is to wraps some teflon tape on the screw so that the epoxy doesn't stick to the screw. The tape is so thin it won't matter, diameter wise. It worked. And before you untighten the screw make sure to cut around the surprlus epoxy bulging from the hole with an utility knife.

Unfortunately in time the chunk of putty became detached from the camera. However, since it was perfectly shaped and nice and hard I was able to glue it back on using some contact adhesive glue I bought from Lidl but you could use any good glue like Araldite or some kind of epoxy glue (the stuff you mix together). Now it's just as ugly but better than ever, for now!

The update is performing great. There is still a bit of lag here and there but that is expected on a budget phone like this. I actually came from a Nexus 5 which was much faster but it broke and I'm not ready to spend loads on a top-end phone just yet. The 5" Moto G is a good substitute at a budget price.

on-tapp doean't actually play the videos - it launches various other add-ons that play streams etc. head on over to the on-tapp.tv forum for more help on it.
