Good point! In a way, yes, it's all a house of cards. Overpriced housing and everything else definitely impacts many of us. That said, those who can - in Silicon Valley, there are a lot of people who can afford it- buy homes. they're also being pickier and making sure the home price is justified.

That is just the easily observed issues. The new lights and appliances might have poor quality connections behind them, especially when they didn't hire an electrician to replace the panel in the garage. At least it's a Cutler Hammer, not a Zinsco.

Agreed. I immigrated from Canada in 1975, became a Citizen in 1990, and Served in the Marine Corps for 12 years. We will always be a nation of immigrants. This along with corporate buying for investors, and low numbers of building new homes, will continue to keep the housing market a major part of our GDP!

I built a little fire pit specifically for cooking outside so I cook supper over a fire all the time in the summer and I get the wood for free. No sense in paying extra to heat up the kitchen when I'm already paying to cool it.

Unfortunately, true about the HOA. But add it up what you're paying at home for garbage, water, expanded basic cable TV, roof repair, exterior painting, weekly gardener, pool service, health club. If you have an RV and pay for storage, it might be $200-300/month, at the Villages it's $33/month. You feel safe within a gated community with 24 hour security. Even if you don't play golf, the open space is nice. There are 65 special interest groups. Two big expenses are water and fire insurance since we're on the wildland urban interface.

Agreed. It's steep, but it's an exclusive club with lots of amenities. If you're into golf etc, it's worth it.

Bird ave, is a little busy and gets congested during rush hour. Streets need some work, but most of San Jose Streets are the same way. but living near Lincoln Ave, you can't beat Willow Glen Downtown!
