Looking at that’s big fuse block and wire on your battery looks like your sound system is the issue. 🤔

Have you never installed an amplifier before? They have internal relays that completely disconnect from the large power wire until activated by a small remote wire from the head unit. If that wasn't the case, then yes, the amp wiring would have been the cause.

VW sucks. At least in my experience. I worked for les schwab and was forced to work on them. (Hated it!) I ended up getting a 2012 jetta tdi sportwagon because i wanted the fuel mileage. Its comfortable to drive and runs/drives great (WHEN it starts) but its a COMPLETE electrical nightmare. Somethings wrong with the electrical system somewhere so its confusing the entire system. It goes back and forth between saying there's no communication between the majority of its systems, and sometimes it's fine. The push button start is a joke. It always says the key fob is out of range (yes I tried a new battery and TWO new fobs) so I have to touch the fob to the start button to start it. And more and more, even that isn't working. Everything comes on like it's good to go, but I notice that the wait to start glowplug light doesn't come on, so I'll depress the brake, and nothing happens. I'll have to turn it off and back on generally 5 or 6 times before the light will come on for a second and allow me to start it. Yesterday after approximately 30 times, I used my code scanner (which showed no codes related to that) to clear the 30 or so codes, and then after the 2nd attempt it finally started. If I didn't have the car completely loaded 280 miles from home, I would've set it on fire and walked away. And VW is COMPLETELY useless! I brought it to them for a simple diagnosis, they took my $242, did a code scan, found less than my Harbor Freight scanner found, and didn't give me ANY info. (They couldn't even figure out the key range problem) the only thing I got out of it was a cleared computer so I couldn't tell what all they did, and a new code that would pop up saying fuel pressure was low and it would go into limp mode. VW is THE worst company I have ever come across!!!

@tinygaragefab @tinygaragefab Yeah, I'm pretty screwed. No clue what im gonna do now. Just lost my job and hour ago, and got this stupid car that I've gotta somehow deal with. The $5,200 I paid for it along with the money I've dumped into it (although less than 700) would sure be useful now. It's a very expensive and painful lesson. I wish I would've stumbled onto your video and all the comments before buying this thing.

Great job. I have to wonder if the balancing of the driveshaft only pertains the material beyond the tubing now. In theory, you're removing some of the tubing which should affect the overall rotational mass, but hell, it's good enough for DIY. If you're truly not noticing any vibration, I'd call that a win.

The only thing I didn't like about it was the circuit board that has the trigger switch. There is a large resistor that will get hot enough to melt the soldier and come loose from the board. My resistor was gray. I ordered a complete new board and fixed the old one by re-soldiering the resistor back to the board. The only other thing I found out was that the tip stays "HOT" with the supply leads hooked to the battery.

great job. I have my motor home in shop. the rear end went out, so they got a used rear end from junk yard and got it in place. they say the carrier bearing had gone out and was what caused the ring and pinion to go bad. now their telling me they drive shaft that they also got from wrecking yard is either too long and they are going to have to cut it. I don't know why they could not find one that fit. I hope they know as much as you and can do as good a job. My question for you is how will I know that everything is good when they get it done using wrecking yard parts. they already told me the used rear end was 2600.00 so I do not know what the drive shaft and the work to shorten it will cost. I'm stuck with them as I am in Maine now and live in Texas 2600 miles away. I didn't say it is a 'forest river motor home on a 2004 e-450 super duty Ford chassis and is a 2 piece drive shaft. thanks for any help you might give me

Does the cost to powdercoat calipers include disassembly / reassembly of the caliper ? Provided I supplied the seal(s)...
@tinygaragefab
@tinygaragefab Ай бұрын
That's something you'd have to discuss with your powdercoat guy. A lot of people aren't mechanics, and wouldn't be able to do it, even though it isn't very difficult. But I'd like to think that a shop that focuses on automotive powdercoating over industrial should have at least one dude there that could do it.
@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7
@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7 Ай бұрын
@@tinygaragefab Well it takes 5 minutes to tape off a caliper and if you are a powder coater, then it takes 5 minutes to apply the powder then 20 min in the oven. it's about 10 minutes of his time to powdercoat a set of already disassembled calipers. $100 per caliper seems a bit steep for 10 minutes of labor. I spend about 30 minutes to do peoples brake pads for $70. .... you see what I'm saying ? How much does a used oven and a powder gun cost $1000 ? I have $70,000 into tools to service cars. I'm going with a rattle can or spending $170 on a gun and $40 on a toaster oven and becoming my own powdercoater. I figured you were a powder coat guy who'd know. But you act online you're allergic to money and this is your third time powder coating for only your own small projects and have no idea. But somehow competent to put together a tutorial. Still wet behind the ears... ... but not really. .... play dumb
@tinygaragefab
@tinygaragefab Ай бұрын
@Mr_BUSINESS_24_7 wow. That's some serious projection. Just because I only have a few powdercoat videos doesn't mean I've only done a few items. I don't record 100% of my life like some influencer vlogger. Anyway...I'm not a powdercoating business and I never will be, so I simply don't know what someone else will charge or what their competence level is. Now, IF I had customers, then the breakdown and rebuild would be included in my cost, because I know the job would have to be done right and I really only trust myself. All that said, and regardless what you think of me (I'd out-wrench you any day of the week, BTW) I highly support your plan to get a powdercoat gun and toaster oven and try it yourself. That's how I started. Good luck out there, and try to be a little more honest about your own skill set. $70k in tools means jack in the grand scheme of things.

@@tinygaragefab $70,000 in tools means I earned enough money turning those wrenches to buy those tools better 1997 and 2005 when tools were half of what they cost today. I bought those tools at $13 to $18 per hour. Not $23 to $28 an hour like todays techs start at.

It's the same engine from part one. 22R and 22RE are the same engine, the "RE" is fuel injected, the "R" is carbureted. So at the core, they are ALL 22R engines. A warning: My car has an engine with denso diesel (common rail) injectors on a 2010 2.2L Toyota Avensis and this procedure wont work with those. Well, actually it works but it would need a 110V DC instead of this 12V source. Such injectors are activated by the ECU using a DC\DC converter from 12V to 110V. I just realized that after trying a kit I bought using 12V. With just a 12V battery it's the same. You can ear the solenoid click one time and then you'll have to wait a couple of seconds to repeat the process, otherwise it won't even click. More than that, the solenoid clicks slightly because of the accumulated charge in the 12V adapters. After the condensators dissipate the charge, it will need to charge itself again, it takes time ... and it's only 12V, so it won't work. I tried the carbon cleaner and, in reality, it clicks but it doesn't even open as there is no spray at all coming out from the nozzle. I searched online and found the details. Use the query "Denso Common Rail Diesel mechanic com au" on google. I don't know if there are other injectors with different voltage. Don't do like I did... (or try to redeem yourself by warning others). Search before buying. Cheers!

My Volkwagen Caddy V Maxi after one and a half year and around 20.000km: * The engine sucks! Manual transmission. Strongest gas engine, but below 2.500 rounds per minutes the engine does nothing. The turbo lag is as big as the Grand Canyon. * No option to control the indoor/ambient lights. The over head switch does not work. * No mute button. Turning off the radio turns also off the navigation system. You have to navigate through some menus to mute the radio. * After one and a half year resp. 20.000km 1l engine oil was burned. Just disappeared. Gone. Like the engine drunks the oil. * Almost every button is a capacitive sensor so no haptic feedback. You want to control the light while driving at night. You have to look away fron the road. * Important buttons missing at all. Think of driving at night while it is raining and you need to control the heating. You have to deal with the menu on the touch screen. No buttons. * From time to time the head unit compliants about issues and after restrting the engine the issue disappears. Light is not working, front sensor broken etc. but after restarting the engine the issue magically disappears. The electronic sucks! That is not all of course. Never again Volkswagem. Do bot buy a Volkswagen. The new cars from Volkswagen are all crap. My Volkswagen is only at one thin good: beeping, bleeping and chirping. I hate my Volkswagen. And thanks to the EU government hijacked by German wokestars in Europe soon no more combustion engine motors will be allowed any more. Unbelievable! My next car will be a Ford or Toyota.
