I have the same speakers, they are legendary icons! What cables do you use on them and what are the best matching amplifiers you tried on them so far?

We use Cableless cables made in northern Italy. In this specific case they are Aida and Sinapsy series. About the amplification I tried some, actually the speakers are not too much demanding regardless their size. Clearly they enjoy amplifiers with good driving capabilities and I'm somehow biased because I love tubes and we design and produce Angstrom amplifiers. I have to say that they sound rather well with a just good enough amplifier too, I can't say the same for example for the Magico speakers I have, they are much more demanding to make them to express their potential, an average good sounding amplifier is not enough.

SF Maxima Amator wonderful, magical speaker! What’s with the 30+ year old B&W Matrix 800’s behind you? A new “heritage” release from Bowers and Wilkins 😆😆? Ugly, power hungry and soo big. But it’s another really great speaker. My buddy cherishes his pair.

Hi Dan, thanks for reaching out. We have several videos on our KZbin channel with the B&W in action. I don't comment about how they look because there are very different opinions, let's say that generally the Sonus Faber are much better good looking. About the power demand actually they are not that hungry, they have a good sensitivity so you don't need a huge amplifier, for sure they can handle up to 800 watts so they can push hard. About the sonic performance there's no comparison between the B&W and the SF, they are in two different leagues, much much better the B&W hands down.

This is a brilliant video! Awesome for such an easy going presentation, and it,s seamless too. Wow! I'll admit, I'm a Pass Labs fan, but after you fade from it to the Manley, the singers voice instead of being a single overall sound, one can hear the dimensionality, depth, and it then takes on a 3D shape. Woah. I might have to investigate more Manley products, especially a preamp. What a great video. We want more! 🤣

Buongiorno, grazie per il commento. Lo scopo del video era di mettere a confronto tre diversi preamplificatori phono e non un test di tenuta in potenza del sistema. Le assicuro che i diffusori nel video sono in grado di gestire fino ad 800W e complesse masse sonore, ben oltre i limiti di tenuta delle nostre orecchie. Saluti.

I’m not sure the Angstrom is the right amp for these. The sound is a bit shrill at times without much dynamics or sound staging. I listened to the Maxima Amator’s with a Pathos Kratos Integrated Hybrid. The SS amp coupled with a tube pre amp was so much more open, with depth, dynamics, bass and sweet mid range. Very different than what I’m hearing here.

You saw the portable Tascam digital audio recorder being used with its built-in microphones. This, and any KZbin video attempting to portray the sound of any speaker is folly and could never be compared on any basis to what you heard live. Take it from a Maxima Amator owner. BTW, the Maxima is more amplifier agnostic than most speakers in their class.

Exceptional sound and value in these gorgeous speakers. I currently have my Focal Electra 1008 BE’s sitting on the same Sound Anchor stands…no sub required.
