As a very small boy I was taken to see the Coronation. In London. On the way home we passed St James's Park Underground station. Drawn up outside was the RCMP mounted detachment. You can imagine my fascination. Sitting as high as as I could imagine, a constable looking down at me gave me a huge grin and winked. I was so proud I almost burst! That is my main, clear memory of the day, other than being given a policeman's rolled Cape to sit on whilst the day's events unfolded. Ever since, l've had a special regard fo the RCMP and our Canadian cousins. God Bless Canada.

I believe there are at least two other canal boat rides in Ohio alone. One at Canal Fulton and one on the Miami and Erie canal in the western part of the state - I just don't know where exactly. But they must be pulled by horses I would think ?
@gerrycoleman72905 жыл бұрын
You will get greater positive results from your horses if you lose the long shank bits. Go bitless. Check out how the Houston Mounted Patrol accomplished this.

Because the comments on the draft horse barrel racing are unavailable... no one of them is riding their horses in a nice way! Things like that should be forbidden!!! That is pure cruelty. 😪

but I don't like the bits the horses are wearing

I agree. This police force should study the Houston Mounted Patrol. They do not use bits.

It may well be the last horse drawn canal boat in America. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal boats are drawn by mules.

Evidently you did not view from 8:45 to the end of this video or you would reconsider your thoughts on *waste* of tax *payer's* money. Providing safety and protection in a community is no waste.

They came to my town and I was the guest of honor because I am a former wish kid. I was the one the corporal came to, to ask if they could go ahead with the ride and the same at the end. Then after I got to go around and meet all the horses. There were still a few of the horses there from when my uncle was in the ride. I love Hairavannean's they are such pretty horses. I have one he is only 2. Would love to get a few more

Thank you for taking the time to post a nice comment. The video camera I used is a SONY DCR-FX1. It's 6 1/2 years old, so there are probably better models out right now. I haven't kept up with the latest models, because the one I have has suited me just fine these past years. Thanks again.

Thanks! I have seen these guys on an ATF DVD, and heard that the guy who does Frylok's voice was auditioned over the phone. I think I know one of the oldest ATF . Mom is 75, and will watch this at 2:00 AM, or later at 6:00. Most little old ladies are watching CSI and House.LOL Mom plays a mean guitar too. We all really love Meatwad, and hope Shake never gets out phone number. (again)

I ADORE the idea of using horses again for this. Anywhere you can possibly apply horse power, I am happy again. Well done!

Thank you for taking the time to post a nice comment. I glad you enjoyed my video. I didn't know this canal boat ride existed either until I saw an article about it in a horse magazine. I have heard that there may be one other similar horse-drawn canal boat ride in the USA, but I'm not sure where it is. Will need to perform a websearch to find it.

Thank you very much for your nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed my video. I'll let you in on a little secret: It's a lot easier to film a large quadrille like this well, if you watch another performance beforehand.

Let's say you're a family of five of modest means, and you want to bring your family to spend a day at the fair and see the RCMP Musical ride. You would have to pay more than $100 for admission to the fair, the horse show, and don't forget parking isn't free either. Ten years ago the Musical Ride went as far south as I think they ever have been, namely the Texas State Fair. I was there, the horse shows were free and the stands were completely filled. Go figure. I hope you enjoyed my video.
@Castielj15 жыл бұрын
That's a very good observation. However the low turnout is not the fault of the fairgoers, but of the fair staff. You see, the Minnesota State Fair is one of the few state fairs in the entire country that makes fairgoers pay an extra admission fee to attend the horse shows. In this case, the extra admission was $10 a head! This is absolutely absurd.

Thanks for the nice compliment. I do remember the white Shire pulling the cart. It was the best looking white draft horse I'd ever seen.

I'm very sorry, but it was my first time at the Circus Parade and I was not familiar with the wagon names. This wagon was one of the largest red wagons and had gold-colored carvings on its sides. I hope that helps you.
