3.5 minutes for render geometry. Maybe one and a half minute for volumes like god rays. And also... I don't remember how much, but it takes maybe a few minutes for the main flame.

You must just add an impulse for a smoke near some surface. The force reflected from an obstacle will do the rest.

You can use that soft like Speedtree, plugin GrowFX for 3ds Max, or Houdini

It's always too bad, those renders are too short and are ending abruptly, but working in Blender myself, i understand just for test purposes, every frame counts and you don't render a high resolution animation for minutes, just for the hell of it...... Seconds of footage can already rund for hours of rendering. My longest rendering run was over 48 hours straight.
