Egg mixture is fine but unnecessary flour sticks just fine without it just don't do the final towel dry off bit you did let them dry a bit then in the flour. Would also recommend shallow frying in butter instead of deep frying in peanut oil. Heat just high enough for the butter to become brown butter without burning. And save the ranch for standard fried mushrooms like you get on an apetizer platter. Dipping your properly cooked morels is like putting ketchup on your steak you can do it if you want but don't be upset when people think you are a bit classless. If you are going to put anything on them it needs to be very light flavor so you still taste the mushroom.

I've made them with only flour and they are crunchy compared to with egg. I only Sautee in butter before I add scrambled eggs for breakfast. I cook them a multitude of ways, but my favorite is fried in egg/milk and breaded in flour.

I do still morels to cook and will re use the flour and eggs. I made a small batch just for the video because it's easier than trying to record cutting soaking breading and frying them all.

you hired a guide? LAMO
@alloverthelake6396
@alloverthelake6396 Ай бұрын
Yes! Snagging season is only 6 weeks, and it's 4-6 hours of driving. I don't have but one day a year to get down and snag. I don't have rod holders on my boat for trolling. I hate dragging lead. I don't have a livescope, which simplifies Snagging. If you don't want to spend thousands of dollars on poles, gear, boats, ect, many people hire a guide once a year and know they will bring home fish. It's actually cheaper than buying a boat. I plan on hiring as many guides as I can afford. Many top level fisherman do guide service work. The only way to fish with them is to pay. Luke from Catfish and Carp and many other good fisherman hire guides. There are no spoonbill in Smithville Lake where I fish. Therefore, I don't have experience fishing for them. The smart thing is to ensure I'll bring back fish. My wife didn't want to spend 14 hours on a boat. With a guide, I'll maybe have my limit in an hour or 2 and be free to go enjoy the rest of Sunrise Beach. I'm always learning, and everyone knows something I don't. I'm hoping to fish with as many new fisherman as possible even if I have to pay. I'll take that experience and apply it. Good luck.

I've found a decent amount at Smithville Lake. They grow different each season depending upon temperature and moisture. Just keep trying new areas and old areas that have produced in the past. I've had places go a decade and produce 15 or so, and suddenly, there are 300. Also I've had areas that for 5 years produce hundreds to suddenly produce 25. Having lots of spots is helpful. I recommend during peak season to spend a hour a day trying new locations. If you are determined you'll find morels. You might be 1 trip in the woods away from finding 500. Good Luck!

@alloverthelake6396 Ай бұрын
They should grow there. I know in Southern Canada people harvest. You need 3 nights with lows around 50 degrees for them to form underground. Then they live up to 21 days. I'll typically wait 10 days from the 3 warm night and go looking. Good luck and thanks for watching
